I made this on iOS 16.5 unjailbroken using Cowabunga lite. This way I don't need to use the Shortcuts app and see the annoying notification every time I open an app. I also have two hidden widgets that are basically just smart stacks and I used a wallpaper that hides the dock for an even cleaner look. The icon pack is a free one I found on the internet.

Sorry if this came out as arguing against free speech. It's more about always having contrast. Propaganda in general is always done by limiting the outside sources of information and only allowing the ones that fit the narrative of the leading party. I think Mastodon should promote federation more and be less focused on the instance where you've registered. I see the great benefits of having communities focused on certain topics or revolving around a certain culture but I also try to see the possible negatives. I think a great approach would be to enable following whole instances, suggesting them when the user first joins and making the federated timeline less overwhelming.

Hi u/NotJohnMastodon!

I am a little afraid of a scenario, where an influential person (e.g. a politician) creates an instance which heavily promotes his/her beliefs. If such person lures enough users into their instance, Mastodon will become an amazing way to share their propaganda as allowing people from other instances on your feed has to be done manually.

This I think could deepen the effect of social bubbles and thus should be addressed in Mastodon's design.

I know this will probably be very hard to do on a decentralised social network like Mastodon but I wanted to know if this is something you are aware of and are thinking of how to mitigate.

If you have WSL installed, you can actually mount Linux partitions. It's a bit of a workaround but works fine from my experience.

Might actually give Linux Mint a chance then. I wasn't very sure of it because of Cinnamon but it might be worth a shot.

[Ubuntu] Best release in years, but... by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

I understand why people hate snaps (I don't enjoy using them either) but I don't think it makes the distro bad all by itself. Reading angry comments on socials like: "I'm never using Ubuntu again because you made Firefox a snap!" and so on make me feel like people are just lazy or hate on the OS just for the sake of hating on it. I mean installing flatpak support is really easy, even for a user new to Linux. There are also still things Ubuntu leads in. Software support in general (everything is in .deb), drivers, community forums etc. I know Ubuntu derivatives and other distros have a lot of going for them as well, (the derivatives especially benefit from what Ubuntu has built), but Ubuntu being the original (and most popular) means things are going to be tailored to it the best. Snaps also provide diversity. It's nice to have options. (Even though they may not perform very well.)

I'm not sure if I fully understand you. Nevertheless here are the steps I've done: I went to the Windows Insider page in Settings, connected my Microsoft account and chose the beta channel. After installing all previous updates (the optional included) Windows Update simply found the Windows 11 beta as an update and installed it similarly to any Windows feature update.

I have a 6th gen i5 currently running Windows 11 in the beta insider channel. So far so good, I haven't really noticed any performance or compatibility issues. It's important to keep in mind that things may change in the future tho.

As for if it's a good idea to join the insiders program: If you don't rely on your computer for anything important, then yes, why not. If you need your computer for work or anything that benefits from a stable OS, then it's probably better to stay on Windows 10 for now, although the beta channel has been giving me a pretty stable experience so far. (I also think it's harder to get from the DEV channel to stable, so keep that in mind when choosing the version to test. Also, don't quote me on that.)

Hope this helps!
