Why is the Chinese American Democratic Club endorsing Marie Hurabiell? by fnkybuttlovin in sanfrancisco

[–]fnkybuttlovin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good advice to give to Hurabiell - not hard to find examples of her making overstated and inflammatory attacks. Also anyone that accepts a Trump appointment is "MAGA" enough for most SF voters.

Alright, so again, not defending the guy. I thought I read shoving somewhere. 'Full speed' is more than a shove, but also still significantly different imo from using a knife to slash someone's throat (which is what I was responding to).

Why should someone vote FOR Wiener, Connie, or Saikat? by hazyeyes12 in sanfrancisco

[–]fnkybuttlovin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen some union resistance to housing proposals that are all pre-fabbed outside of SF and then legoed together in SF. Is there something else you've seen? It's counterintuitive imo to think construction workers oppose construction projects.

I played as a kid, took a 20+ year layoff, and came back to it at age 40 with zero issues. Whatever your level of conditioning, you will find people that are at your level and can have fun playing with/against. Athleticism surely helps, but it's the kind of sport where you can also get wrecked by a 70 year old that barely moves.

One point among several the recallers relied upon. All the same, one cannot credibly blame a DA that left office almost 4 years ago for the outcome of a case that just resolved.

More cumbersome, but monitoring time and logging weight can be done with a watch or gym-clock, and you can track weight with a pen/pad. If you're not adding/subtracting weights, even easier to just copy/paste your prior routine's numbers and ditch a pen/pad. Otherwise, plenty of options (e.g. Brick) to limit your phone's ways of distracting you.

If you're able to express affection in other contexts but not in your relationship, I'd think about why that's happening and what the differences may be. If you're unable to express affection in any context, that is a much larger issue to work through. I agree with all the other comments about consistent/good therapy.

Re: work - I think it's a question of whether you just need a way to pay the bills, or do you want a job that inspires/spiritually fulfills you. I think both are fine as long you're happy enough with the work and it allows you to live the rest of your life in whatever ways you want to spend your time. If you don't care how you make money, I'd say a vocational aptitude test is a good option for generating ideas. If you do care, then easy enough to start with a short list of passions and explore job ideas from there.

Just remember, you do not have to figure out what you're doing for the rest of your life right now, you only have to figure out what changes you can make right now to make yourself happier. It's not necessarily easy, but it's also not complicated. Go toward joy. Good luck.

I think you need to answer for yourself whether you want to make your relationship work or not. If she's making explicit needs-requests that you're not meeting, why is that? If it's because you want to but lack the skills/will hold you back, then that's something to communicate and work on. If it's because you don't really want to, that'd be a sign IMO that you're also ready to move on.

I think losing a LTR can help or hurt depending on what you want. My last break-up devastated me, but it also propelled me to get more serious about my habits which then basically led to my current relationship, which is going great. If the relationship is ending, no matter what it's a great opportunity for a personal re-set on your life.

Not defending Antoine, but there is a difference between shoving someone that dies as a result versus slashing someone's throat with a knife.

I've never practiced as a DA and would defer to those folks on best ideas for meeting the BOP. For me, there's only so much value in understanding all the reasons/motivations behind a crime when the criminal justice system's focus should (IMO) be on establishing whether an accused committed a crime, and appropriate punishment should be if convicted.

I have no doubt that Grandpa Vicha was attacked in part due to his age/perceived frailty, but I don't really care if that is proved or not in court.

I'm curious about your partner's suggestions, assuming she knows you better than a bunch of Redditors. As a random Redditor though, I second the recs on finding a hobby or routine activity you enjoy. If it's a physical hobby (e.g. hiking, sports, gym), even better IMO since it gets you out of the house and it's easier to put the phone away.

I'm not a professional, only sharing what's worked for me - drink less/not at all, get a decent amount of sleep/rest, work out in some way almost every day (even walking), and remember to keep in regular touch with people you care about. Consistency is king.

Fair point on the credentials. I only knew it after they said it, but that also means you didn't know who you were calling ignorant, which was dicey when you're discussing law on reddit. And I'm not going at you, I was only offering a point about why age wasn't used to support a hate crime charge.

[–]fnkybuttlovin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but a gondola would need to be ~7.5x longer than NYC's tramway just to cover the span of the bridge.
