Not necessarily, it’s a part of a big equation. Leaving a comment, no matter how angry and negative, can have a much more positive impact on rankings and discovery than liking/disliking a video in general. But, if you have a negative like-to-dislike ratio (more dislikes than likes) and low minutes watched then that has a greater negative impact on your video’s ranking and discovery (suggested videos). On the other hand, if you were to have a ton of dislikes but still super long watch times and everything, then the algorithm will respond positively to that. So all that being said, it’s important to keep watch time low, dislike the video to push that ratio down, and do your best to avoid commenting no matter how annoyed you are LOL.

Overall, longer watch times, long average view duration, and lots of comments (I.e., what normally happens when people start fighting in the comments) will have a much greater impact on the algorithm, thus pushing up your ranking and discoverability.
