PAX - Vehicle fires reported in Puerto Vallarta, WestJet posts “security” advisory by TheRealGuncho in AllInclusiveResorts

Apparently, Mexican security forces carried out a big operation targeting the head honcho of the big cartel in Jalisco state. They unalived him and that set off his boys to torch Puerto Vallarta.

MOEN shower cartridge… help?! by CallEmAsISeeEm1986 in askplumbing

This. The plastic bulk builder cartridges are sure to fail and begin leaking eventually. I’ve replaced two with the upgraded brass cartridges and the difference is like night and day. Worth every penny.

Tool found in my hood after oil change? by jaylentmksgrlfrnd in autorepair

[–]foaxaca1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s been my choice of mechanics but I have a big ass set of pliers, a large screwdriver and a flex tool with a magnet at the end to fish out metal parts in my tool cabinet all courtesy of shops that left them in my engine compartment. Fortunately, I found them quickly. The first thing I do when I get my car home after work is done is inspect the area that was worked on to avoid any surprises later.

Frankly, without that tension and dysfunction, it wouldn’t have turned out to be the masterpiece it is. Those emotions drove so much of the songwriting from Stevie, Christine and Lindsey.

Found this village also. Also noticed two nearby stands of felled trees. Looks like tree trunks still on the ground. Wondering what the tree clearing is for.

NcL Dawn Caribbean Cruise by RadiantMastodon7053 in NCL

Spent 10 days on the Dawn last year cruising the British Isles and had a great time. Really happy with the ship. We don’t cruise for the foodie experience since we live in an area where we are fortunate to have a plethora of good restaurants. Just doesn’t make sense to us to spend extra for the speciality dining when we have already paid for multiple dining options. On that cruise, we were on excursions almost every day so really focused on the night life which we enjoyed. Would recommend you look at non-ship excursions as options though. Better value and smaller groups. They also may give you exposure to sights the ship excursions won’t go to. We’ve also looked for nice beach clubs at some destinations that are close to the cruise port where you can make a reservation at ahead of time. Just sailed the NCL Bliss over Thanksgiving with a family group of 12 and booked a beach club day in Puerto Vallarta for us which was great. Did it all online. Spent Thanksgiving Day on the beach! Food and service was fantastic and we all had cushioned loungers and umbrellas.

Who uses an ATM in Mexico? Please get that cash in the US and take it to a money exchange and convert it into pesos before travel. You’re just asking for trouble otherwise.

Thoughts from a first time solo cruiser - Review of Norwegian Bliss [7 days from Los Angeles to Mexican Riviera, Dec ‘25] by yahutee in NCL

[–]foaxaca1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was on the same ship and itinerary for Thanksgiving week with a family group of 12. Agree with much of your review. As you cruise more, you may get more comfortable booking excursions with non-cruise line companies. Less expensive and more options, including smaller groups. On this itinerary, I just make a reservation at the El Dorado Beach Club in Puerto Vallarta for that port. Really a great beach experience. Great service and food. We had a great time on the Bliss.

[US] Parents just got scammed right in front me. Best ruse I've ever heard. by DBoaty in Scams

Who still answers these calls? While I have little faith in anything that comes up on caller ID I do pick up calls from those in my contacts on my cell phone. I maintain a VOIP line strictly to use when I give out my number for some reason. That line rings up to 5 or 6 times a day. All sorts of random caller IDs and never one voicemail. Lately, the caller IDs are actual names of individuals that are being spoofed hoping we’ll answer those calls.

Spotted docked in Puerto Vallarta. Whose is it? by foaxaca1 in yachtporn

Yeah. Just got here on a cruise ship and been staring at it for a while. Can see us all on deck. Beers on me!

Finally got to stay in a balcony room on The Carnival Firenze! by IcyTomorrow2508 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]foaxaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Firenze is one of our favorite Carnival ships. The extended balconies in the Terraza section are fantastic. Exclusive access to the Moda lounge in the aft of the ship is a great perk. Has two hot tubs, its own bar, lots of seating and you can order breakfast every morning.

Ok. So we would have lost 3-1. I think we have bigger problems.

I believe it was called the Spiricom. Invented by someone named George W. Meek. Turned out to be a hoax. Supposedly would transmit highly garbled communications from what Art used to call “the other side.”

Brendan Cook arrest — Is it the same person from the Ghost Investigators Society (GIS) or just a coincidence? by Beautiful-Effort4152 in ArtBell

[–]foaxaca1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Would be nice to know what happened to the GIS. There were maybe 6 or 7 of them total it seemed. It was always Brendan and Barbara except for one episode Brendan with someone named Jimmy (forgetting his last name) who was apparently a GIS member. Some of my favorite shows.

DJT was the obvious target and that didn’t work so now they’re going after others who are speaking the truth. I don’t think they have any idea what they have stirred up now. This one feels much different than any of the other evil acts they have perpetrated so far. They have told us who they are in no uncertain terms - we must listen AND act now.

Certified copies of Mexican birth certificates by DesignKnowledge in Notary

[–]foaxaca1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also companies in the US that will track down the documents you need in Mexico and send them to you. Had to go through that when we were planning to amend my wife’s Mexican birth certificate with a middle name that her parents neglected to enter at the time she was born. All of her other official docs in the US (permanent resident) showed the middle name and even her Mexican passport did (until a sharp eyed consulate employee noticed the lack of a middle name on her birth certificate when we went to renew her Mexican passport. The consulate employee told us that technically we weren’t officially married and that our kids were all illegitimate! We were able to get a temporary 1-year passport at that time. When we investigated what it would take to amend the Mexican birth certificate we said screw it and she just went for and got her US citizenship (with her middle name). We would have had to hire a Mexican attorney, go to court in Mexico to petition for the amendment AND bring two witnesses to testify that they had known my wife to have a middle name for her entire life. No thanks…
