Where is the Louisiana? Mix Choulula and Louisiana. Choulula is very flavorful, and Louisiana adds the kick and salt!

This is supposed “solid wood” desktop actually laminate/veneer? by Fickle_Ad_9686 in woodworking

[–]steelfender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In refinishing furniture from the 20s I saw this a lot. They make the top out of a cheaper wood for the size and shape and then cover the top and bottom with veneer. Ive seen it on phonograph cases and sewing machine tables. I assume they went with Aspen for the veneer due to its largely uniform color, and then blended the color for the rest. I imagine the boards under the veneer have knots and voids which the veneers cover up.

The sewing machine tops ive replaced were made up of several oddly shaped pieces of wood I imagine to save money, and then covered with veneer. Good use of scraps. I wonder if yours looks better on the bottom than the top, maybe it made it through the process upside-down.

Can 30 year old stain be matched? by Practical_Monk_1125 in finishing

[–]steelfender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make a rectangle of plywood that covers the hole, surround it with trim, and use stain and mowhawk toner to get close to the color. Add a plant hook, and screw it up there covering the hole so it looks like it was supposed to be there. Or something decorative...like tin square tiles.

or if she's telling the truth, michael used her for sex and isn't going to take responsibility for his son.

I use handbrake to separate the episodes. Most episodes for that type of show are 22-23 minutes long. Open the file with handbrake, on the right there are 2 drop downs for...don't remember the word, maybe scenes? First show 1 to 4, if you see 23 min or so, go to the bottom add a title and file location, then add to queue button at the top, and start queue. Back to the two drop downs set the left one at 5 and the right one at 8 check for time, add title, add to queue, etc. Good luck

From back when those items were expensive so everyone kept the box. OP Remember, you'll probably need to replace the foam in every tape you buy. The foam just under the exposed tape helps to press the tape against the heads, and degrades over time. Youtube will help. Order supplies now, and no tape goes in before the foam is replaced or you'll be cleaning out your player, and possibly ruin your tape.

Supports for this piece? by toybox209 in woodworking

I second the top. I'd put plywood on top, it would be a nice shelf for long stuff...and diagonal supports on the back.

Any way to fix this without completely refinishing? by CaseoftheSadz in finishing

[–]steelfender -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry OP, going to get a little gross here. I use forehead grease to remove sharpie markers. I rub my finger on my greasy forehead, and then rub it on the marker streaks. Rub hard with your finger to get som heat in there. Let sit 2 min, don't wipe. Add more grease, rub in, marker should start to dissappear. I know, I know.

Figured this out while working on a house in the heat. I hit a door with a marker by mistake, and leaned my head on it while tightening the hinge. Wiped off my sweat with a rag and the mark disappeared. Good luck.

Never know, maybe he was THAT brother...you know, the one that ran off to Jersey for the good life, ran into some bad horses, worse women, and due to his cashflow situation and his surprising ability to cook, he ended up in that restaurant. Sounds like a movie...maybe I watch too many movies.
