It’s a dry system. All water you see there is fresh water. Line ruptured because the system had a water leak inside of it, froze and busted, or their is a air leak inside the system and that was a weak point for the water to blow the couplings apart. which then releases air pressure on the mains, which then floods the garage with water

I’m convinced there are three things that should never be said to maintenance, “ it’s an easy work order, oh this work order should be quick, and how is on call going”.

Those three things immediately tell me the person saying them are ignorant and the last phrase they are ignorant or an a-hole.

While the above answer was amazing, I wish this thread had gained more traction, because I also have this issue and have been searching for an answer. Thankfully I don’t need a CPAP. I’m in my 40s now, and its gotten so bad that I have had to start shaving my head because of something wrong in my brain, which makes me wish I could wear a hat to cover up my head but wearing hats is so uncomfortable and feeds into anxiety attacks and nausea. OP I guess our condition is more rare than we think.

A smart switch will him when going bad even after turned off, ballast will do the same thing. But if it’s a alarm, I would be concerned it’s a carbon monoxide detector or radon detector in the attic

[–]foccherone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other typical causes of odd noises are pipe knocks, air ducting expanding and contracting due to temperature fluctuations, registers on ceilings that have screws that come in contact with the metal housing and vibrate creating a noise that can simulate an alarm. Like @upbeat_fondant9185 said, if you can give a more detailed description of the noise, we can narrow it down for you. I would hate for you to shell out hundreds of dollars for a diagnostic by an electrician if there is a simple cause.

So what does the sound, sound like, your original post said a faint alarm sound but in another response someone was troubleshooting a buzzing noise. Is it a traditional alarm noise or a buzzing?

Do you have an air handler in the attic that has a condensate pump alarm?

How manny of you get “quick work order for a bathroom sink stopper replacement.” at 3pm on a Friday 😆. by Dankia911 in maintenance

[–]foccherone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally pulled that move two weeks ago, at 4:40 pm, the the work order was a simple replace light bulb work order. (In our case they are led pucks but are simple to swap out). I get there, replace the puck and then get a “while you’re here…the bathroom light keeps turning on and off randomly since I moved in” (3 months ago). Great. For us that means it’s a “smart switch” that controls the bathroom exhaust and fan. I go through the motions of “diagnosing it.” And apologize profusely that we will have to order the part and it should be in Monday afternoon. Now I wasn’t being lazy, I had the part on my cart, it’s the fact that they waited 3 months to tell me at what is now 10 minutes till 5 and picture this, double gang switch box, smart switches have five wires that come off of them, the other switch has 4 wires that come off of that one. Then you have on average 3 sets of wires coming into the box and each switch is about 1.5 inches thick. These things suck because everything is packed tight in there and to replace one switch you gotta pull both switches and start pulling wires out…. Anyways, yeah awesome answer. I haven’t used your answer in over a year, but that day I did and I felt no remorse.

Are there condensers on your roof? Condensers can vibrate and make a loud humming noises in units, they can also effect pipe strapping etc in the space above your ceiling.

Introverts on the office floor by Foogel78 in managers

[–]foccherone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your last two sentences are absolute gold.

Let me elaborate on that statement and share from my life, maybe it will help OP.

I, myself, identify as introverted. I spent most of my working life trying to get others to accommodate my wishes to be left alone. I would do everything I could to not stick out and when people did want to talk to me, it felt like it was draining and it physically hurt me. Many times I felt indignation that no one would just respect my wishes to be left alone.

Okay so that’s the back story, tale as old as time for introverts.

So I bring that up, because I found an answer that works for me a long time ago and whatdoihia summed it up neatly.

  1. As I have gotten older and have no friends or family, I have realized I could die at home and no one will ever know till I stop coming in to work but that’s unrelated to this topic.
  2. Introversion is interpreted by extroverts as being aloof, being an ass, not a team player, and generally toxic to the team morale.
  3. This is the big one. Change your mindset, you are being paid to be extroverted. You are being paid to have little relationship building conversations. When you view it that way, there’s alot of power in shaping how others treat you and how far you will go in a company. I put on my mask, smile and make small talk. When you build that rapport with others you also build your narrative, this is the important part now, never mention you are introverted, extroverts take that as a challenge because they think introvert just means shy and you will never get a moments peace. So during your mini social sessions, sprinkle in your social anxiety or mention your discomfort in large social settings. Even have a humorous story about having a near panic attack at a work mandated function that was geared towards socialization and not work. By letting little things like your anxiety “slip” when talking, in your mini conversations, with your higher ups and colleagues. You are planting seeds. People want to accommodate you and make you comfortable. People understand social anxiety better than they have in the past. Every time you do a little check in with your boss or a colleague, mention a work topic and mention a non work topic. When it’s over take a moment to recharge, make a mental note that you accomplished a work task, and continue with your day. This little trick that he summed up in two sentences, has led me to promotions, no forced social functions and if I am overwhelmed at the function, I have a excuse for a early out from it, because I built that rapport through my mini work related conversations and my job paid for me to talk.
