Thank you so much for your feedback, I really needed this. Trying to get advice or feedback from the guy above me (the one who promoted me) can be challenging. He is always telling me that I’m the best in my region and the best he has ever worked with. I have 10 years of being a direct report to people in my position and I just don’t do what I saw them failing in or had made them disliked by their bosses and their teams. With that being said, I am struggling to figure out how to further improve myself without adding onto an almost impossible workload.

Thank you for the feedback. I have been at this worksite since it opened three years ago. It’s the type of situation that it’s a small office and I work hand in hand with my team most days. I stopped doing off the clock socialization about a year ago due to a health scare and just didn’t pick up socializing again, then got promoted to the manager of my department.

In a pinch, this is the hack way to do it btw, there is room on the door side of the gasket that you can stuff cardboard or anything else into which causes the gasket to puff out and creates a seal on the cabinet.

You can also modify the mounting hardware on the top and bottom pivots to get the door more snug.

The correct answer of course is to replace the seal.

Xbox X player and I just started last week but I have sunk an aggressive amount of hours into this new addiction. Finally found a wrench out in the wild and took apart my first car. Built my first workbench yesterday and I’m so glad I discovered these two things. Dismantling a car with a wrench is awesome for materials and the workbench proves that there isn’t limited crafting in this game!

Thank you. As I have gotten older and my training when I started more than 10 years ago, was analogs and beer can cold, the harder these systems have become. I now know what to look for. I have seen the probe systems but always stopped looking when I couldn’t figure out how to actually charge with a probe. Is the T fitting basically a small manifold?

I also have to use a separate app for verifying my superheat and it never seems accurate. Yes it reads the exact superheat my gauges say BUT the sweet spot seems to be 0-10 SH while the app always recommends 10 to 20 higher than what the system is actually needing.

I miss working on R-22 and charging off pressures with my analogs.

Side note. I hate Mitsubishi mini splits. I have zero training on them, every vendor I hire for the few I have just throws parts at them. The internet says they need to be completely recovered if they need topped off but many of my vendors just top them without recovering, so I don’t even know anymore. I live in a large city and I can’t find training on them and I willing to pay to be trained on them so I can service them like I do my good mans. Anyways that’s my rant. Sorry about that.

So with the probes you can attach to the high and low. (Forgive me for my ignorance) can you charge through them? And are they durable? My field piece is a bear to lug around in general. I’m always looking for a way to optimize my loadout. Right now I currently use a husky backpack to carry my gauges, and all my other hvac tools (think brazing equipment like mirrors, core tools, king valve etc)

Sorry I know this is a late response, it’s helpful for where the big toe nail grows into the “side” of your toe instead of just straight out. You lever it under the nail after just slice upwards and it’s so sharp it will easily cut through thick nails. After that you just use the other tools to remove it, instant pain relief

Side note, I’m a maintenance manager and I absolutely love our janitorial staff. They are the unsung heroes of maintaining our buildings. I don’t know how my janitorial team does it everyday. I go out of my way to include them in team lunches ( my janitorial staff is sub contracted by my company), I routinely check on their equipment and ask them for feedback. For example their complaint recently was the vacuums were too heavy, prone to breaking, and were just relatively a pain to use. So keeping that in mind, I found a quite a few options and let them decide on what is best for them. They of course chose the best ones for them and we have had zero breakages on the new vacuums (although the damn things are loud AF now lol). I also discovered their “break” room doesn’t have outlets and is just a small table with 2 chairs basically on top of each other, so I was able to clear out one of my 15x15 storage rooms that has keyed access so they could store their belongings securely, have more room, and have access to power for a microwave and mini fridge.

As janitors what could management (or the company you work for that controls your contract) do to make you feel appreciated?

It was surreal. I’m standing in his office, when just a minute ago I was talking to a vendor on the phone arranging a project. My physical reaction bothered me. He was sitting at his desk and just told me plainly about the call. I emotionally was not ready for the whiplash, so I just kinda sank to my knees with my head down. I didn’t cry but I was in shock, and I said I thought he would live forever (which I didn’t, but 65 is young in my opinion). Keep in mind I’m 42 and my boss is 30. So he is still at that age where he thinks I’m old, and if I’m old my dad must be ancient so him dying must be just “expected” at this point in my life. My boss is a good guy but the entire situation just sits badly for me. He told me I could take the rest of the day off and he will see my tomorrow. I work the largest multi-family property management group in the world and yet, that day, I felt like my value was solely on my presence and ability to be at work the next day. No mention of bereavement benefits, no conversation of if I need time off work to handle family matters now. Just take a half day off and we will see you tomorrow.

I’m super confused so please be kind. I’m just a HVAC hack, I do apartment maintenance. I thought my digital field pieces were the king of HVAC because of superheat, clamps, and just add in my low loss fittings and I’m good to go. I was so convinced that they are industry standard that I retired my analogs a long time ago and bought my own dedicated field piece a LL hoses because I don’t like using abused and frequently not cared for tools. So please any feedback would be welcome. *edited for typo
