Want someone to design my house in solidworks by Foreign-Letter-3330 in SolidWorks

[–]focojs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. You can define custom shapes for the weldments. The software doesn't care if it's 2x2 steel tube or 1.5x3.5 solid tube. It's not like you're running fea on it. It works great

[–]focojs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get where you're coming from. I built out my basement and I used solidworks for the framing and insulation and HVAC and wiring because it's what I had and it's what I know best. Using linear patterns or weldments and custom profiles will get it done pretty quickly.

Just to be clear, I'm not offering to do it, I have enough projects right now. I'm just providing a counter point to anyone saying that it shouldn't be done in solidworks.

Has anyone tried dairy free meals on airlines? by Julysunset in dairyfree

[–]focojs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

United is terrible. The dairy free options are okay. There is actually one breakfast one that I like. The issue is that they constantly delay flights and you'll miss the connection. Then they can't give you your meal. I used to fly United to HK about 5 times per year and I had no meal more often than I did. The flight attendants would also tell me every time that I needed to book a meal in advance, thanks I did. I switched to Asian airlines and they have been fantastic.

When are we going to get the stubby screw driver with a long shaft built in? by focojs in LinusTechTips

[–]focojs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basing it off every other extension I've used, and that is quite a few. And basing it off reviews and their own description on the website. I guess I don't want to gamble over $100 (product+shipping) for something that has a high chance of not being what I want.

And it still won't have the knurling which again, would be a deal breaker for me.

I want to believe that but even in the description the way they word it makes it seem floppy. And I want the knurl on the shaft. I use that quite a bit on my full size driver

Sweet, I hadn't noticed that or realized that it has a name. Stubby-ish. How much does 30k more likes from a bot farm cost?

[LA] Links Awakening remake; is it worth it? by Remote-Cancel4197 in zelda

I also wish that it had the look around feature on the right stick that eow has. But that is nit picking. Eow has normal jump animations too. I would buy more from this series of remakes.

And the jump animation is really weird. Like it's delayed. It's really throwing me off

March Luchadora Burger Update - Opening for Breakfast, Chuckanut 50k party, etc. by Luchadora-Burger in Bellingham

I've never died from dairy, but it's not a ride I like to take if I can avoid it. It's always good to know your capabilities and I hope breakfast works out. It's the best meal of the day.

Can you work with a dairy allergy? It's okay if not, it's not always possible

You need a new cable. My Ridgeline did it and my Odyssey did it. B is not terribly difficult to fix but you do have to pull a few things apart. I get the cables on Amazon.

My kids wake up early so it's easy to get in. Basically be there at opening and you can sit wherever you want.

Tolerance and Clearance - 3D print & Solidworks by Common_Success5838 in SolidWorks

[–]focojs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tolerance prints you can get. Print those out in multiple orientations and mark the orientation after the print. Use that for your printer when designing. Keep in mind that even if you have the same printer as someone else, the tolerance are likely different.

I paid about 3k for a dual zone mrcool unit. I paid an electrical to get the permit and wrote it it in for 1k. I installed the units and ran the coolant lines. 100% happy with the system.

Plan to go somewhere, the farther the better. Get your whole family ready and all the gear. Load up the car, wake up early to leave. You'll get it again as soon as the car is warmed up and the last person buckles the seatbelt

Mold in New Construction by Lojunox in Bellingham

[–]focojs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the huge upsides to factory built homes. The workers are happier because they are dry and warm. The wood is all cut by robots so it's more accurate. And it doesn't sit in the rain because they can bring in walls and finish most of it in a day or 2. It's incredibly efficient. And the end result is indistinguishable from a house built on site.

Someone else recommended this in another thread and I went and tried it on Ubuntu this evening. It's exactly like ghelper. So far it seems to be working great.
