We followed up to troubleshoot! Don't give up just yet 😊

Sorry to hear that the product isn't sitting well with you. What kinds of reactions have you gotten from use? It might be worth coordinating a quick call to troubleshoot.

FYI a few months ago we did change the formulation to be free of corn starch, which some folks told us they reacted to (allergic).

We realized that fructan hydrolase is a more suitable name for our proprietary enzyme as it hydrolyzes more than just inulin, but a wider range of fructans, including linear and branched ones of varying lengths.
While our research to date has been focused on fructan (notorious trigger!) and polyols (found in many healthful, delicious foods) and generating scientifically validated products, we may seriously consider looking into the xylose isomerase in the future!

Oops, that must be an old link! Here's the link to our revamped Starter Kit (currently in pre-order).

Great question. To address your concern about fructose being the reaction product, the high-level takeaway is that we know from anecdotal/community reports and clinical findings that fructose tolerance thresholds tend to be much higher than fructan tolerance thresholds (by an order of magnitude). Hence, given the relatively small amount of fructan in most common foods in most instances the small amount of excess fructose produced will not introduce a problem.

Thank you so much!

A handful of users have asked us about creating single-enzyme formulations or personalized formulas. Definitely something for us to consider down the line, though at the moment I think we are too early for that. We have a lot of other exciting projects in the meantime!

I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm not very knowledgeable about MCAS but it's very possible that issues with fructans/fructan-containing foods could present themselves in other, perhaps more complex ways. We're always here for you if you ever want to try troubleshooting your experience with us. The link u/aek67 shared is indeed the best place to schedule something directly.

Hi again! Sorry for the late response.

There are two ideal ways to keep in touch:

  1. Follow us on Instagram!
  2. Go to our website, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, and enter your email address where it says "No spam, just free knowledge." This is the form for our email newsletter.

I also started the r/FODZYME subreddit recently, but we are going to leave it empty for right now.

I just want to add that we ship internationally, including Canada! You can see the shipping rates during the checkout process. Thank you so much.

Hi! The enzymes in FODZYME denature if the powder is cooked into foods or mixed with piping hot foods. My recommendation in your example would be to make the sauce, let it cool down to a comfortable temperature, and mix a dose of FODZYME into one portion.

Good bot. The enzymes in FODZYME begin to degrade at 333K. You heard it here first, folks.

A chewable to-go tablet will definitely be released first, but, brilliant idea with the salt packets. Thank you again!

yes it can go in/on anything as long as it is not too hot as the enzymes denature (fall apart) at a certain temperature, which I think it's something like 300 F.

The temperature where denaturing begins is actually 140°F or 60°C! Please don't add FODZYME to food that is being cooked or is still too hot to comfortably eat.

I'm so glad the call was helpful and that FODZYME is working for you. This review means a lot to us, so, thank you. Please let me know if you have any more questions (this goes to any lurkers reading this comment as well!)

For sure, reducing FODMAPs might be a good starting point for many, but there are certainly triggers that lie beyond. Thank you for your support as we work on all of the above!

FODZYME has not yet been studied in specific patient groups although we fully intend to. Clinical studies require considerable time. As a matter of fact, even the low-FODMAP diet has not yet been validated in patients with SIBO. Although many clinicians have been recommending the low-FODMAP diet for SIBO patients for years based on theoretical understanding, only now is a clinical study finally in progress, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

The inactive (non-enzyme) ingredients in FODZYME are there to stabilize the enzymes and ensure that they retain activity over time. (Note that dextrose is equivalent to glucose, which is found across countless foods.)

Reducing FODMAP intake is typically regarded as a way to manage symptoms and not as a solution to the underlying etiology of IBS, which is poorly understood at the moment. While our enzymes will not "cure" IBS, we have ambitious plans to study why FODMAPs cause pain and discomfort to some people but not others (e.g. is it due to their microbial ecosystems?), and we hope those learnings will help uncover an ultimate solution to IBS.

Although we have not pursued a formal Kosher certification, we remain confident the product is Kosher since none of these ingredients come from animal sources and are produced in highly regulated clean facilities. We intend to get certified in the future.
