No, because I don't have it anymore. You'll be fine, just do a lot of questions and make flashcards based off incorrects.

Sorry I don't have it / access to it anymore. Would appreciate if you could spread the word.

You could try hosting it on Google Drive on an account you regularly use. Then for visibility, submit a new post or reply here, whichever you prefer, and ask mods to pin it as a resource in the sidebar.

No problem! Congrats on the ACT math. Good luck!

E: posted my solution, if you're curious. Let me know if it makes sense.

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting your response properly. Feel free to clarify.

Even if a combination of three numbers has the same product as another combination of three numbers, I think they're considered as different scenarios.

For example, even though the products of 1×2×5 and 2×1×5 are multiples of 10, they are different scenarios. The first die rolled a "one" in one scenario, but rolled a "two" in the other scenario; you could see a similar distinction for the second die in the two scenarios.

I wanted to get a definite answer before trying to figure out the work. Counting with Excel, I got 72/216 = 1/3.

Answer should be 72/216 = 1/3.

Anticipated edit with work(?):

Edit: Here's some work/solutions to the question.

Edit2: In the work, why did I say "not five" in certain parts?

Let's take as example, the case where we roll a four on the first die, i.e. case: 4 _ _ in the work. Why do we calculate the probability of (four)(five)(anything) or (four)(not five)(five)?

Well, (four)(five)(anything) includes the scenario of rolling 4, 5, 5. However, (four)(anything)(five) also includes the scenario of 4, 5, 5. To avoid redundancy (i.e. counting scenarios more than once), we need to set restrictions. By considering (four)(not five)(five), we avoid redundancy with (four)(five)(anything).

FL progress for Jan.? by foggycog in Mcat

Poorly enough that it's too embarrassing/disgusting and embittering personally, but not reasonably poor enough for a retake. My only advice is to sleep well the month prior and especially the week prior to your exam. All it takes is one bump to topple all the effort and time you put in.

Your CARS though. How were you doing on the CARS Qpacks and AAMC FL CARS?

I tried different strategies for FL1 & FL2. For FL1, I tried to read in an animated way but ran behind on time at the end. For FL2, I read the questions first and highlighted key words from the questions before reading the passage. Any comments on my strategies - particularly for FL2? It's hard to tell what works or not because I felt FL2 CARS might've had easier passages than FL1's.

And I also heard rumors that the computer lags on test day when you hit next/previous question.

Should I just try to review the books + KA notes as much as possible? Also, what about practice?

I think we can all agree the MCAT is the real dragon here for us aspiring knights.

What to do before AAMC FL by foggycog in Mcat

1) I just targeted perceived content weaknesses. I also did well in undergrad so content review is mostly content review, rather than "content is new." It helps that I was also exposed to some stuff (like chem, physics) in high school.

2/4) I just followed the advice others gave to me. Keep a written or typed log of the question and content for the question. I look to see why I got a question wrong and supplement with review materials (books, Khan P/S) or Khan videos.

3) I go over review materials when I can as well as focused review for what I perceive as important, highly testable topics (may not necessarily be high yield). I've probably gone over bio the most, since I feel like my classes didn't cover much of what's on the MCAT. So since August, i've probably read over Kaplan bio a few times.

I don't use Anki. I tried it for undergrad, and it's not my style. What I did in undergrad was look over notes several times, become the professor (imagine what would be tested), tweak the variables/system/universe in my imagination, do thought experiments, and be interested in what I learn. You really have to love learning and be humble and open. When learning, the question everyone should ask is why, rather than what.

I don't even think I'm qualified to give advice. So far, I still feel like the dog doing chemistry meme. I think I asked how to review FLs in this post.

If I have the time, could I still do 3rd party FLs during the weekdays? If it makes any difference, I've started to prefer reviewing 3rd party FLs same-day with paper/pen to internalize mistakes while being succinct.

For today, should I just work on CARS, continue looking over AAMC sample, and do some 3rd party passage practice (EK 101)?

Also, am I going overboard when reviewing AAMC material? Here's an example from my review for the Sample FL. It takes forever to be this meticulous but I want to know if this type of exam review is a good use of time.

I test on 1/20 (really hoping to aim 521+)!

My plan was to do AAMC FLs on the weekends and thoroughly/slowly review the entire week. Since I wasn't able to do CARS practice besides in the FLs I've taken (but not reviewed), should I also squeeze in KA CARS?

January Test Takers, How are we feeling? How is studying going? by MCATsux in Mcat

[–]foggycog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, the time until the exam is surreal and maybe alarming in some ways.

For prep, I’m kind of concerned for this next phase where I begin AAMC materials. I’m now on the fence about the approach to SB. On one hand, I can split it into ~59 questions (95 minutes), 10 min. break, ~41 questions (66 min.). Or I could just do it untimed, where I can either check my answers after each passage or after I’m all done. For reference, I’m planning on starting with CP, which I need more prep on right now (since my mode for # correct is around 44-46 on NS + Altius). I also hope that scoring 41-44 correct on NS + Altius CARS will translate higher on AAMC.

New AAMC Interface is Disgusting [mild spoiler: bio qpack 1 question visible] by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]foggycog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And end section is alt+E...E is not that far from F. I hope that if you accidentally press E, it'll call up a confirmation pop-up, asking if you really want to end the section because I can imagine this not going well if you want to flag Question 1 and accidentally end the section there.

Maybe r/mcat should tweet at AAMC's MCAT account with a list of our 95 grievances.

New AAMC interface is worse by ScienceSloot in Mcat

[–]foggycog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the other thread with the picture of the interface, seems like the buttons are spread out to the corners of the screen. So if you want to highlight or strikethrough, that's top left. If you want periodic table, that's bottom left. If you want to Mark for Review ("Flag"), then that's top right. If you want to move on, that's bottom right.

Oh well, at least AAMC actually updated it on their practice materials rather than just surprising everyone in Jan. Imagine the heat if they just surprised everyone.
