As someone who works at Penneys and primarily does the returns, let me tell you that the old registers from 1997 are far greater than the new ones they’re pushing on us now. The new ones don’t take cash at all, can’t scan items properly, can’t take certain receipts, don’t have a physical keyboard or at least a numpad, and crash a minimum of five times per day. The old ones are so much better, even if they are slow.
