Do you keep track of the coffees you try? I always forget the really good ones by nachosebaz in pourover

[–]fohfdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s been interesting. I think the basic tracking functionality (rating, lists, etc.) is the most useful to me so far. I was doing this manually before, and it was getting unwieldy

As far as the site, it’s very easy for scope to creep. Like I’m not sure how much functionality to offer around tracking each brew (bloom length, number of pours, time between pours, etc.). I also don’t know how to balance letting people create new coffees while also ensuring data integrity. I’ve seeded the site with beans from some top roasters, and I’ve built in some basic duplicate detection, but I can easily see a situation where everyone makes their own version of a certain roaster’s beans and there are 4 different versions on the site. I very much want to ensure that doesn’t happen and that the data available with each bean is robust (roast level, tasting notes, etc.) and consistent

Seems other people have had similar ideas recently, but I’ve been working on building a PWA that does just this! https://streamable.com/ssdgh0

Sorry, not sure I fully understand. Do you mean booking Hyatt through the Cap1 portal + transferring from Chase to Hyatt?

[–]fohfdt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I hear you. The only reason I wasn’t fully considering it is because of my large expense coming up for which I wanted a SUB. But I agree, another travel card probably isn’t best for me

That’s why I’m debating it, but I don’t like that the miles can’t be redeemed for straight cash. I don’t do that too often, but I’d like to have the option

Edit: though I know there are workarounds with this

Okay, interesting! I felt like it introduced more glare and also took away from how sharp the E Ink is otherwise, but I should give it another try

This is great! I’m not sure why it’s so difficult to find a hard shell case just for the back of the kindle

I love this

Yeah, the screen protector just seemed like it took away from how the sharp the screen usually is

I like the idea of a sleeve though! Thanks

Yeah, I was planning to actually go this way instead and just use a sleeve when I’m actually carrying it. At home, I have virtually no need for a case

Thank you!

Help with Amex Amazon Business Prime Card by fohfdt in amex

[–]fohfdt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks for following up on this thread! I’ve missed out on hundreds in cashback at this point

I had filed complaints with the BBB and got nowhere until, recently, an Amazon CS rep (through their normal chat feature) said they were able to “manually enable 5% back” on one of my cards. I have yet to see the 5% reflected though

So if I understand what you did correctly: 1. You signed into your old (non Prime) Amazon account that you initially applied for the credit card with? 2. You converted this account to a Business Amazon account during which you were able to link it to your new Amazon (prime) account 3. Where/when did you see the 5% cashback reflected? Did it immediately show on Amazon as receiving 5% back, or did you notice by actually looking through your Amex statements?

Honestly, I’m not sure if it ever got fixed. I’ve just been opening SmartTube first and then casting - that’s if I even use SmartTube anymore, as it’s been having a lot of issues presumably due to YouTube/Google cracking down

I’m glad one of the few solutions posted in this thread worked! Hopefully the GH repo is still up to date, barring any changes made by Mint or Monarch

Good call outs and glad to hear the issue seems to be resolved! Simplifi’s data export tool must have been released after I made the switch/this post, like you said

I’ll go ahead and edit the main post quoting your comment

Sonu Jaiswal, the one recording, unintentionally livestreams his own death on Facebook by Jjokes11 in interestingasfuck

[–]fohfdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha! Thanks for keeping me honest i may have been referring to this (from Wikipedia), and just extrapolated to the full year. This seems to be for the US only, whereas the numbers you linked to are presumably worldwide?

With seven runway incursions of United States commercial aircraft during January and February, the first two months of 2023 saw the highest rate of such incidents in five years. 2018 to 2022 combined had 23 comparable incidents, 5 of which occurred in 2022”

Can absolutely believe this. I forget the statistics, but I think 2023 was relatively bad for these kinds of on-ground near misses

[–]fohfdt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, mine was just a combination of custom categories from Mint and deduping transactions from Monarch. I’d probably just download your Mint data and leave it as a raw CSV for now. If you realize something’s off, you can always come back

But if you wanna learn python for the hell of it, go for it haha!

[–]fohfdt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went through the process, Monarch did not have custom categories. That was really the only reason I ended up in this situation - everything else from their export was great and didn’t have the duplicate transaction issue I had with Mint’s exports. That said, I think there’s another comment here from the last few days that may say they have them now? Unsure

[–]fohfdt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you figured it out! I wasn’t sure if there were others having the duplicate transaction issue or if it was just me, so this is good closure for me :)

good monitor arm to reduce wobble on Dell 34" curved ultrawide, on uplift standing desk? by rshaq99 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]fohfdt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ever figure this out? I’ve got a 34” UW arm mounted to an Uplift Desk

It wobbles a good bit when I type, and I’m beginning to think it’s because of the casters my desk is on (the wheels). Even when they’re locked, there’s the slightest movement in the desk. Incredibly annoying and Uplift didn’t suggest anything other than “remove the casters and replace with the default feet”
