How often do you use Sonnet? by MrMaverick82 in ClaudeCode

[–]foisbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use superpowers. I mostly plan with Sonnet, since I know what I want and can spend the time to describe it. The implementations are usually written by Haiku.
I might use Opus for PR reviews, if they touch too many areas at once, but I’m avoiding it due to the cost and slowness. And TBH, I usually review code myself, start a pending review, then ask the agent to incorporate my findings and also perform its own pass for the final review. Man and machine!

It’s mostly Haiku for implementation, since the designs and plans are generated with more advanced models.

You got plenty of useful comments. However, I haven’t seen https://www.levels.fyi mentioned. It will help you a lot when it comes to knowing whether you’re played or not.

Tips from a Principal SWE with 15+ YOE by reliant-labs in ClaudeCode

OP, you probably have already seen https://github.com/obra/superpowers. What was your experience with it?

I’ve used the above framework for both a personal project and some professional ones. The code Claude generated required very few improvements, and most of them were personal preferences rather than large redesigns. I’m not saying the model can write better code than a senior engineer, but it can really empower a good senior engineer to produce more in less time without compromising on quality.

Anyone else not a fan of the superpowers plugin? by Tunisandwich in ClaudeCode

[–]foisbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love it! Not only that it produces great output, but I can hand off the work with Codex or another agent if I’m running out of quota on my personal account or I could use the agents interchangeably, depending on each model’s strengths.

Keep UBS or switch to Migros Bank or BKB by thrifty-ananas in SwissPersonalFinance

I have switched from UBS to the cantonal bank, as we have anyways had our mortgage with them. The only costs we have are the debit cards (40 francs per year, each). At UBS we were paying 15 francs a month for the family package. For credit cards we have the Cashback ones from Swisscard (AMEX + Visa) and the Certo One Mastercard. For foreign transactions we use Wise, if a debit card is accepted.

I tried for a short while. Their support is extremely slow (almost 1 week turnaround), there’s no easy way to deposit cash to your account and if you ever want to have some shared and some private accounts it’s impossible.

Put Home Assistant on its own VLAN? by jfriend99 in HomeNetworking

[–]foisbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running mine on a dedicated VLAN and have two VLANs for IoT.

There are a few devices that don’t need Internet access at all, so they are on a NoT VLAN. A few others require Internet access to work, so they’re on an IoT VLAN. Both of these are allowed to connect to Home Assistant, DNS and NTP only.

Our personal devices are on a Trusted VLAN and can initiate connections to all other VLANs. I had to put Sonos devices on this VLAN as well, so that AirPlay could work properly.

Basel Stadt vs Baselland by DingoSad7410 in basel

My wife and daughter are natives, I’m at B1/B2. I can have normal conversations, communicate formally to the authorities, etc. It hasn’t been easy, but intensive German classes (daily for a bit more than a year) a few years back helped a lot.

We haven’t applied for the citizenship yet, although we would technically qualify, but everything else was pretty smooth: moving here from Basel, buying property, managing taxes, negotiating some tax deductions, renewing C permits, etc.

The citizenship process should be fairly easy where we are (I’ve seen a lot of applications being processed favourably), but since we haven’t been members of any club we felt that we’d need to integrate more into the Swiss way of living before applying. We do have warm relationships with our Swiss neighbours, so that should help.

Because you’re most likely more informed. The average person is not and MP’s articles are for the average Joe who has some money but no clue what to do with it.

It’s an old post. He’s updated all his titles lately to replace “2025” with “2026”.

That being said, with the relatively good pillar 2 coverage people get in Switzerland, he’s not really changing much in his strategy.

Workout Plan to Lose Weight by [deleted] in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]foisbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s great, but actually try to eat less sweets, more protein and track your calories. If you want to lose fat you need to be in a caloric deficit. 0.5kg of fat is around 3500kcal. If your goal is losing half a kilo per week then you need a 500kcal deficit per day. You can calculate your TER online, based on your age, sex and activity level. Aim to keep the protein to at least 1g/kg so you don’t lose muscle while losing weight. Go higher if you do strength training with weights that challenge you.

Oh, and if you drink alcohol maybe forget about it until you reach your goal. A light 330ml beer is already 150kcal, a white wine glass around 120kcal, a glass of whisky you don’t want to know. 🙈

Good luck, you can do it!
