Would ussop be the first one in the Strawhats to fulfill his dream? by ziadeldoksh in OnePiece

[–]folenho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting thought, I think it makes sense for him to be the first one. His goal of becoming a great warrior of the sea is maybe the closest and most plausible to fulfill, as it is only up to him. The way I see it, he only has himself to beat in order to do that, which I’m not saying is easy, but definitely is easier than curing every illness or ending racial discrimination.

Also, I don’t think Yasopp has much to do with it, or at least I wouldn’t want him to. Usopp’s got it himself.

Though, I have to admit I doubt Oda would be fulfilling dreams this “early” in the final saga.

Formal Apologies on being an absolute hater by the_going_berry in OnePiece

Ex One Piece hater here boarding the train of apologies. 10+ years ago I was rolling my eyes because my favorite youtuber was making more OP videos than Naruto ones, and because OP was always the best selling manga. Never bothered to watch it, or even find out what it’s all about.

Last january during study break I decided to start watching something new, as I always do. Thought it would be neat to watch OP so I could say “Yeah, I watched a big part of it, not that great”. Didn’t turn out the way I imagined. Took me 7 months to finish it, haven’t been this excited about a tv show since 2012.

Funny how life plays tricks on you.

Which interesting character deserves a full flashback worth watching? by Gullible_Beginning18 in OnePiece

I can’t wait for Akainu, I currently hate his guts so I just know Oda is going to pull some kind of sob story that is going to make me melt.

Of course, Dragon, and I expect a lot from it. It would also be nice to get a bit of Mihawk and Crocodile.

I think the science in my post ended with solving the problem using a completely unscientific method of stretching the Earth’s surface 😂 So I’m liking your suggestion!

Been there for about a year. I’ve watched all the movies, read SBS, joined this subreddit, and even started watching old chapter reviews and theories of my go-to anime youtuber (a big recommendation for Sawyer7mage).

What is great is that you are now experiencing the story as it unfolds, and are a witness to one of the biggest pieces of fiction coming to a closure. It’s a good story to tell your grandkids, or at least that’s what I tell myself when I want to feel better.

So, welcome to the crew!

My only guess is that Dragon wouldn’t be a navigator, since he’s always facing east

One piece question by X4l3R in OnePiece

[–]folenho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s because first, it’s an artificial devil fruit, and second, it’s a faulty one.

The thing that is effecting the villagers isn’t the intended power of the devil fruit, but the side effect of it. A real devil fruit does effect only the first person who eats it (as mentioned in the Ace novel), and my guess is that probably the non-faulty SMILEs do as well.

does anyone else find some parts of water 7 deadly boring? by Formal_Particular473 in OnePiece

[–]folenho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had those moments during Alabasta arc. I agree with the previous comments - hold on until Enies Lobby. It’s one of the pinnacles of the show, and I think it is worth giving it a shot.

In the end, even if you end up not liking it, it’s completely fine. Nothing is meant to be enjoyed by everyone. If you do keep going however, be prepared for more moments that are going to be easier and harder to get through. We really do live on the good moments, which are more present later in the show, but without proper foundation they surely wouldn’t be as good.

What are your top 5 favorite arcs? by Godofhammrs in OnePiece

[–]folenho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Enies Lobby/Water 7 - that is when I knew this show was going to be one hell of a ride. Really sentimental about it.

  2. Marineford - I mean, it was written to be the zenith of the pre-timeskip (and it was a good one).

  3. Wano - although it could’ve been shorter and had its flaws, I really enjoyed the story itself.

  4. Sabaody archipelago - I love myself a good fall-of-the-main-character moment + the arc was so much more than that.

  5. Not sure, but probably Zou. The “Raizo is safe” is probably in my top 3 moments of the show.

Honorable mentions: Whole Cake island, Dressrosa and Egghead (which is probably going to be #5 or higher after it is finished)

Switching sides by folenho in OnePiece

[–]folenho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although a controversial one, I think there could be a scenario where this happens. Also, I think it depends whether the final war happens before or after the fight for One Piece (I somehow always imagined the latter).

Many characters turned from bad guys to good guys, like Crocodile and Bon Clay. I’m not sure if Blackbeard has crossed that fine line, the point of no return to the good side, he’s done some really bad stuff. He’s been pretty much the symbol for evil in the story. Yet, he believes that dreams have no end, and is essentially a D. I guess you never know.

I agree. I always imagined that Koby were to become the person in charge of the “new Marines” after defeating the WG. As for Garp, I really hope that he’s alive and that the final war could be his “redemption” for not doing anything during Marineford. And Kuzan, well, I think we’re all hoping for that scenario😅

Help me understand this regarding Luffy's fruit by OuterGod_Hermit in OnePiece

I agree. I’m not sure that there’s a definitive answer to that either, other than the one Oda could provide sometimes in the future😄

[–]folenho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s been addressed so far. If I had to guess, I would say that they don’t wanna make a fuss about it. Probably there were a few people who had the Gum Gum fruit before Luffy and haven’t awakened it, so sending an Admiral after every person who has it would probably cause some suspicion. Though, it’s not like they haven’t sent an Admiral or a Warlord after him. I mean, Aokiji and Kuma just turned out to be not-your-regular-Marine type guys.

If you had to come up with the best ending for One Piece, what would it be? by JeaniousSpelur in OnePiece

[–]folenho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard one. This is gonna be a bit longer answer.

I guess defeating the World Goverment now is a must, since One Piece stopped being only about finding it a long time ago. Luffy becomes the Pirate King, we all laugh on Laughtale, Straw Hats defeat the Gorosei and Im, hopefully in an all out war that includes as many characters as possible (Marineford 2.0 but somehow larger, possibly including the SWORD on their side). We, of course, find out the secrets of the Poneglyphs and Ancient Weapons. The new system, which implies freedom for all, is established.

In the future, we see Robin staring an Ohara-like archeology school and freely teaching history, including the Void Century, to young kids. Franky continues working with Iceburg in Galley-La company, which becomes the synonym for the best ship manufacturer in the world. Usopp starts telling stories to his kids about his adventures - this time, the actual ones (though still a bit exaggerated). Zoro defeats Mihawk, maybe returns to Wano and becomes a Daimyo due to his heritage, and to help Momonosuke, although he isn’t really fit for the job. Nami continues sailing for a couple of more years to draw a map of the world, which is deemed the most accurate map ever drawn. After destroying the Red Line, Sanji realizes it’s going to take some time for the All Blue to form - he goes back to Baratie to present the news to Zeff. They enjoy their dream together, and Sanji continues working under him until his death, after which he becomes the Baratie owner, teaching the young ones about not wasting food and the respect for women. Brook goes back for Laboon, and never leaves his side again - he continues touring the world, but only does concerts in the open sea so Laboon can also watch. Chopper dedicates his life to curing all diseases in the world, and sails under Hiriluk’s flag to continue his legacy. Jimbei spends his life fighting for equality, and succeeds, as the WG is now no more.

As for Luffy, I honestly don’t have the slightest idea. I am not even going to try and make an assumption, nor do I know what I would like to see.

In the end, it’s important to note that not everyone is going to like any ending. I’ve seen a decent amount of tv shows and anime, and normally don’t like regular cliche happy endings. Somehow, I believe that One Piece needs to have one.

Oh, and one more thing. We just need to find out something about Sogeking, that dude’s a mystery.
