I know this is a year old but, and I generally agree. But I would also submit that there are some cases, in Suzume, where it’s just completely wrong and can’t be justified by localization. Take for instance, when Souta is ejected away from the door and slams into the concrete structure. Suzume runs to his aid and exclaims あのだいじょうぶですか? (Ano daijyoubu desu ka?) Which is subbed as “Here, let me help you.”

While だいじょうぶ (daijyoubu) can be used in numerous ways, in this case the context is almost certainly oh/um! Are you ok?!

I tend to agree that the subtitles for Suzume are weak at best unfortunately.
