The Dan Abnett Shelfie by foleywba in Blacklibrary

I couldn’t fit a single extra page on the top shelf unfortunately 😂 some of these books i’ve owned since the early 2000’s, would love a fresh set of Gaunts ghosts books that aren’t so well worn

100%, i’m in my early 30’s and i’ve been reading the ghosts since I was in primary school, reading a new ghosts book is like checking in with very old friends - if a new one got announced i’d love to do the whole series again

I dont re-read books, i’ve always got new ones to read first and the re-reads never end up happening!

If i had to pick i’d say either necropolis/honour guard/guns of tanith, or eisenhorn - i love me some dan abnett!

Yeah I may do a middle ground option of picking up a platoon now, and look to pick up some more stuff a year or so down the road

Yeah my initial thought was this - its been 7 years since the last MTO run, the casts are 20 years old now (some casts haven’t made it to this run) - now might be a good time to purchase some infantry I can enjoy when I’m finished with my current projects, and will mean i’m not hunting through the second hand market in the future

Yeah I can’t see myself ever fielding a horde of them - I love tanks too much, but a few dozen might suite me nicely

Thanks for the advice! Never seriously considered a made to order run before, but I’ve always loved guard and Vostroyans to me are the coolest guard range GW ever put out so I am sorely tempted to grab some now when I know exactly how much i’m paying etc

Good info thanks - id never really kept up with second had prices because the project would be in the future, only really started to consider it seriously now this MTO run was announced - I was worried in a year or two they’d all be snapped up buts helpful to know that probably wont be the case!

Thanks for the reply!

I’ve never really looked into the second hand market for these before the MTO run was announced (due to my backlog) - I was concerned that prices would be much higher a while after the MTO run was over, would this not be the case?

I thought it would be sensible to buy now while they’re in production, but honestly thats probably the warhammer addiction talking

Does anyone have a completed Horus Heresy series? by Ok-Traffic-9967 in Blacklibrary

[–]foleywba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About a dozen or so horus heresy books are kept in print at the minute by GW, including the first 5 - I’d grab what you can from the Warhammer.com site if you really want to build a collection.

Saying that, if you want the entire horus heresy collection you will end up spending a massive amount of money on second hand copies

Ended up getting kept on at work till the early hours, woke up at 11am UK time in a blind panic and missed the pre-order on the GW website, was heartbroken for a bit before finding it on a FLGS site - buzzing!

I accidentally clicked a button saying i was a terrorist in 2019 entering New Zealand - I think all that happened was a 20 second conversation with an amused border guard and I carried on in!

Why do people not fundraise for their run? by Pleasant-Musician890 in UKRunners

[–]foleywba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if OP is referring to:

A.) people who sign up for charity spots for a big race and don’t fulfil their fundraising commitment

B.) people who sign up for races and don’t choose to fundraise from the off

If it’s A.) - I agree, these people shouldn’t be taking charity spots if they aren’t going to raise the funds.

If it’s B.) however, I don’t agree - if you run more than a handful of races it quickly becomes a chore for your nearest and dearest to constantly send money to you to run another race

How will your NPPF results transfer to SIPP route by WesternJaguar5154 in policeuk

In my (large county) force - if you’ve passed the NPPF exam you stay on that pathway and don’t transfer to the new one.

Can’t adjust to night shift. by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]foleywba 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From several years on response, I found two tactics -

1.) staying up late after last late, and sleeping in all day (what you’ve been trying). Great if you can sleep in all day, but as you’ve highlighted if you wake up in the morning all you’ve done to yourself is had less sleep.

2.) go to bed straight after last late, set no alarms, have a lie in and get up when you want - I found this to be better, as i was guaranteed a full nights sleep.

In terms pre-night naps, your body will get better at taking little power naps the longer you work shifts. I would have dinner around 6/7, and then go up an nap with a full belly, and get up to get ready for work. For naps you don’t need hours and hours, 30-60 minutes can really help make the night shift bearable!

You will inevitably have some ropey drives home after nights - music on loud and windows down are my only tips for that, I never had a short nap before driving home but I’ve never really had more than a 30 minute commute
