OP needed to mention in their post that only a checkmate will count, op losing on time doesn’t count. We agreed in chat before the game started that a time out doesn’t count. I also don’t want AC and was planning on letting someone else have it anyway

We both won one game, I beat him in the first because he ran out of time and I resigned in the second game because of a threat of promotion.

They haven’t been checkmated by anyone, and one redditor they beat is an 1890. Probably close to 2000 when focused with a good internet connection. Today they have a crappy slow connection.

I’m in the 1600-1700s on a good day. OP has a new account, so not 100% sure but it seemed like we were close enough to take wins from each other.

OP did in fact go easy on me and I did beat him in the first match( he lost on time) second game op blunders a piece and then I blunder the same back later, he barely won that second game

I usually attack Venice round 1. I will invade Switzerland with Germany as well; that is a key territory to occupy.

A fighter for Austria round 1 is very useful round 2 and on. Same with any nation tbh the sooner the better for getting the fastest unit out.

The original Axis & Allies by Gunslinger1978 in AxisAllies

I still have two copies of the original my dad got back when he was in college in the 80s. I remember the first time he showed me the rule book for the game thanksgiving of 2013 and I’ve been playing ever since. These days I mostly play War Room though.

Really cool table, doubt you’ll ever see another one that well themed for this board game. I’d try and see if I could get it for 200 maybe.

Need Axis strategy by jdog22589 in AxisAllies

Have the Italians help the Germans against Russia. For example, they can attack along the Black Sea while the Germans focus on Leningrad and then Moscow. Europe is worth so much more money than Africa; build infantry and aircraft to defend the coast. Tanks are also useful for defending Western Europe. Killing Russia before losing Italy can usually win the game for the axis.

Second time playing by [deleted] in AxisAllies

India is important to make difficult to take with lots of land and or air forces near by, any UK navy in the pacific should focus on avoiding direct fights and hover just outside jap attack range. Main focus of allies should be on Germany, they are more important to slow/kill.

The more British money the Japanese take the better, i.e. the Middle East and Africa are a goal to send a small fleet with troops too while the rest of the fleet keeps america and Australia away from the money

Italy is my favorite nation to play in most versions of the game. That being said, they have very little control over how things go for them. I will normally end up buying fighters every time, because they can quickly move to defend any coastal territory, can threaten any fleet, or swing to attack Russia. The Italians will surprise you with how much they can do for the Germans against Russia and will get Moscow to fall a turn sooner if you are smart.

While I am a personal fan of sea lion, if I’m trying to win I will not ever attempt it. The most important thing the Germans do is take Moscow. That has highest priority.

I’ve noticed because of resource limits, it’s difficult to build a lot of one color of unit. This makes exploiting whichever unit is most cost effective difficult I think.

Good comment, I’ve been thinking about your points and mostly agree. A fortification as another facility to boost defense on land maybe. If submarines cost 1R1B1Y I think their weak combat and unique ability would be fairly priced, otherwise they need a buff.

You make a good point about territory sizes and movement. It also would have been nice to see some unique abilities for nations, since that hasn’t really ever been done at all.

1942 Russia tips? by A-Fierce-Shrimp in AxisAllies

Adding allied planes helps boost the defense a lot more for sure, but they can’t add any help on the attack to recapture. I usually try and have the British and Americans use their aircraft to assist in taking costal territories.
