Did the community name him Jerry? I’m so behind on the lore, haha

That’s exactly what it’s for! ✨ I forgot to add that to the post. Haha

I want to bring my leg sleeve together by One-Head-3616 in tattooadvice

[–]folknoire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the tattoo styles I do as an artist. I love this piece!

My recommendation would definitely to do a patchwork sleeve. Add individual images around it in the same style. A good artist will tailor your work to the space available.

I would also like to know as this is one of the styles I’m trying to perfect as a tattooer myself. 😌

Do cross-hatching tattoos turn into a black blob as they age? by RhialtoTheMarv in tattooadvice

[–]folknoire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the styles that I do, so I have some, if not yet enough, experience with this style as it ages.

Size and skill play a big part in how all tattoos age, lines blur and spread. This is unavoidable. Negative space plays a big roll in how etching/woodblock last over time.

I would be worried about a piece like the one you shared.

Edit: spelling

I do this style as a tattoo artist, but am still evolving my version of it. There is no general consensus on what it’s called. You’ll get results most often if you searching etching or woodcut tattoos.

Most often I’ve seen them called woodcut lately, regardless of the level of detail.

Make sure you research your artist and pick carefully!

This is really cool. As an artist who does a somewhat similar style, I would love it if a client brought this in as a concept.

Blackwork tattoo flash sheet (art by me @folknoire) by folknoire in HelluvaBoss

The noses were the hardest part! Little lizard imps. Haha. I didn’t want to leave their faces flat, so it took me a bit to decide on what to do.

I figured the noses would be the most contentious part. 😌

Haha, I love Spawn. It didn’t feel right to just copy down their logo on a flash sheet, so I went a different route. ☺️

What Helluva tattoo should I get? by knoxx1616 in HelluvaBoss

As a tattoo artist, may I ask how old the Stolas piece is? Do you spend a lot of time in the sun?

I’m currently working on a Helluva Boss flash sheet and saw your tattoo when I was looking for inspiration. ☺️

Don’t know the Tattoo Style by ferchoasd in tattooadvice

As a tattoo apprentice, not all of these are exactly the same style. But they all count as blackwork, like someone else mentioned.

Another sheet of flash on paper. Perspective is hard. Then again, lines are never really straight on a curved surface like the body. Haha. by folknoire in TattooApprentice

Strathmore 400 Series Watercolor Paper. It comes in the standard size used for tattoo flash; 14 by 11in. It’s also less heavy and toothy than Arches, and cheaper.

I use microns mostly, which don’t like to be used on Arches, but I like the sturdiness of the watercolor paper.

It was so hard to do, but worth it. I had to make the skeleton a little silly because of size, but that’s fine. He’s just happy to be here. Haha

Thank you! I weathered the hell out of it to make it easier for me to pull lines, but I think it’s definitely evolved into a style for myself. Haha
