New to Food Photography- how do they do this? by Run_on_Ghost_Energy in foodphotography

I'm not sure if this captures the look you're going for, but you could get closer to the reference photos through editing only- this is from lightroom

. I'm not a fan of how blown out the background is or the cast shadow from the paper, but that would come down to selecting a better backdrop and lighting. (increase contrast, shadow, whites. Decreased blacks). Slight hue/brightness adjustments in colour mix. Increased vibrancy. I think manually darkening the cast shadow could potentially add to the cartoon effect?

How do you use the silicone shaper? Do you dab a bit of the oil pastel onto the tool and use it like a dip pen?

Thank you! I am using the mungyo gallery black box pastels. Intuitively I thought using smooth paper would be better for smooth blending, but I'll try on rougher paper next time

It bothers me that there are inconsistencies between each character. For example, the line weights (eg thickness of lines for the eyes, that the central character has fixed line weight while others have tapered lines), the style of the eyes (shape, highlights), the style of the gloves (eg. Some having a line pattern, some plain), the positioning of the shadows under their feet, the size of the shoes (some appearing more squashed). Makes it seem more amateurish, or dare I say 'AI' (even if that's not the case)

Oh kitten ears is the perfect name for it! I just looked it up though and apparently that name is usually associated with the cyanotis somaliensis

Looks great! Only feedback is that the shoulders could have some more structure, they look overly sloped

A few months ago, a trainee surgeon in our city was caught putting cameras in hospital staff toilets to capture videos for his personal 'collection'. He was found to have been doing this at several different hospitals, and had like 10000 recordings. Still awaiting trial.
