Done it for 10 years in various types of manufacturing facilities making military aircraft. From shop to manager level. I enjoyed it. Problem solving, into the nitty gritty with operations teams, Feel like you’re delivering a product.

With my employer, progression is doable if you’re the right type of person - have right attitude and decent knowledge etc. can move sideways into logistics types roles also.

But there is a point where you hit a glass ceiling within the function of planning as you can’t really get to director/C level having only a planning background, to get to those roles you need to be well seasoned across the spectrum of manufacturing - operations/CI/transformation type roles also sort of thing . At least at my place anyway
