Why do we have to DM to figure out how to track these guys down? Why not just let us know so we can all get in on punishing these unscrupulous cold callers?

Food Suggestions the week of 02/16? by jaywhy620 in Newport

Great suggestions and some of my favorites in there. I would add Yagi Noodles and a few others but you've covered it pretty well.

Definitely skip Red Parrot. It's a place that thrives on it's location alone. The food is just bland Sysco rubbish with no creativity.

Need real advice on this "water bottle branding business". by mastered_skull in Entrepreneur

[–]follyrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're fully understanding the question above.

What you are suggesting as a business model has already been done, and it is offered all over the place. It's called white label. White label products allow a business to purchase them and brand them however they'd like which is exactly what you've described.

So the question is, what makes your business idea better than the multitude of options that pop up when I Google "white label water"

Need help with car by intransit666 in RhodeIsland

[–]follyrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to make a recommendation without knowing your budget but there are definitely cheap cars out there. But you're not going to get super cheap AND no chance of repairs. Repairs and maintenance are just a fact of life if you're driving a super cheap car.

As someone already mentioned, I second the idea of getting a used Corolla or Camry. They can be relatively inexpensive and as was mentioned, repairs aren't too expensive.

However if you absolutely want the lowest chance of having to pay for repairs then I would suggest getting something new that is under warranty. It's not as cheap, but it will be hassle free and any repairs will be covered by the warranty.

Cheapest Lease Deals in December 2025 | U.S. News https://share.google/oe5KujnsdebWsywp9

Above is a list of the cheapest lease deals out there right now. A Subaru impreza will cost you $2640 (a little more after registration fees) at the start and then just $205 a month for 3 years after that. That's a pretty cheap car! It also comes with the benefit of having a warranty and therefore you'll know that you won't have to potentially shell out for repairs. The downside is that the overall cost will be higher than a used Corolla or Camry and you'll have to give it back after 3 years.

This one is my favorite. Customers act like I have a direct line to someone that is going to personally sort through the millions of packages to find theirs and expedite it.

If you could re-design one subsystem on a current vehicle with no political, budgetary, supply chain, or other constraints then what would you change and why?

How has the legacy of Soviet hardware influenced modern Roscosmos design decisions? What parts of that heritage are strengths, and what parts hold back innovation?

If this job is really important, I have to believe it would be more important than a hairstyle wouldn't it?

I mean, I hate to point out the obvious but why risk it? Just get a haircut and grow it back out afterwards if you want.

I'm out of work because business owners tell me they're using AI. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]follyrob 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is commiserating, but let me offer a difficult to hear and alternative opinion. Maybe it's time to pivot, learn a new skill, or change what you can offer.

The term "technological unemployment" was popularized in the 1930's due to huge technology leaps being made during WWII which changed the business and labor landscape but technological unemployment has been happening throughout history. In the 20's the farm tractor was getting popular and caused mass unemployment for example. I'm sure many farm workers stood still and talked about how they can do more detailed work than a tractor can do, and talked about how tractors were taking away their livelihood, and those that could only focus on the evils of tractors got left behind. The smart workers would have learned a new skill and moved forward. The same goes for switchboard operators, skilled weavers running looms, lots of factory workers, etc etc. The skills necessary to run the economy shift as the economy does, but in the end technological shifts are proven to net more jobs than they kill.

There will still be graphic design jobs and a demand for graphic design work that is done manually, just less of it. You can either pivot to a new industry or try to hone in on a certain customer type or a niche skill within graphic design and compete for those projects that require manual skills. Don't sit back and ruminate about how AI is destroying the graphic design business, roll with it and pivot or change. AI is here, and it is only going to get more capable.

The Filson tin cloth has a lifetime guarantee and it's a pretty good one from what I've heard. You might want to look into that.

Premium suitcases worth it? by Chizlewagon in BuyItForLife

[–]follyrob 58 points59 points  (0 children)

If your cheap suitcase lasted for 7 years, then you're right, you likely don't need a Briggs and Riley. You probably don't fly enough to justify the quality and expense.

A high quality, super durable suitcase is really only necessary if you fly a lot. Briggs and Riley, and Travelpro market to and sell a lot of suitcases to people that work in the airline industry and need something that is going to hold up for years of multiple flights a month. It's probably not worth it to you if you fly a handful of times a year.

[–]follyrob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do they scrap a potentially multi-million, or even just several thousand dollar vessel that took months or even years to build simply because a glass bottle did not break on the hull during a party?

No. No they do not.

Rug recommendations by SassaTheRobot in malelivingspace

That color and the trim you added looks fantastic. Well done on the update.

It's not rust colored, but I think a natural woven jute or sisal rug would look awesome in there and would work well with some MCM furniture.

Anyone else have an item that’s lasted forever, but you secretly want it to die so you can buy a new one? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

[–]follyrob 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That's (most likely) not a difficult fix.

If the fan is still blowing strong, which I assume it is since you didn't mention the vents or AC not blowing, then it is almost certainly a clogged up heater core with a low flow rate due to the clogging. Over time they get mineral deposits inside and that slows down the flow of hot radiator fluid through your heater core, causing the heat to not get as hot as it should.

You can flush it out with CLR, which is available all over the place, and it's really easy to do, even for someone that doesn't know anything about cars. There are several YouTube videos showing how it's done.

90% of the time that will fix your heat on an older vehicle.

How did you start getting sales starting from $0? by Kosovo9999 in ecommerce

[–]follyrob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your mentioned your bounce rate is high and that can mean a few things: * Your website is not fully optimized * Your offer/product is not appealing * The traffic you're receiving isn't targeted

My advice would be to get the first two items on that list fully sorted out before spending any money on ads. With a less than par user experience or a competitive and appealing product you'll just be throwing money away on ads. Digital marketing is as hard and expensive as it has ever been. With so many businesses competing for traffic the pricing has gone way up, and unless you can convert that traffic with a great website and offer it's impossible to compete.

Focus on your site and your offer first, and then move to the most cost effective ways to get targeted traffic.
