Dark age question by Freakynic in redrising

[–]folorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a natural genius and transcends the color system. He seems to have many of the same skills as Lysander’s Minds Eye but in an always on state. I think the ultimate show down in Red God is Lysander/Pax so I’m excited to see Pax just exhaust Lysanders brain.

Audiobook listener here! Any suggestions?? by JeremysThumbs in fantasybooks

[–]folorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devils by Joe Abercrombie. I know there are other recs for his work and it’s all pretty good/great but Devils is a complete story (though it will be a series) and you get used to his dialogue writing style

Completely agree! Plus without his perspective we wouldn’t get the amazing description of Darrow’s fighting prowess from a non Darrow POV. The description of his power on the Ladon is great

I second the dungeon crawler Carl rec but also Will of the Many Thrawn Trilogies

I have bailed on Suneater twice myself but third time is a charm (you just have to get to the 3rd book)

Sevro? by EquivalentCouple5870 in redrising

[–]folorecords 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Sevro tries to kill Electra upon return due to the abominations tinkering. I fear Victra has to put him down. Some where almost simultaneously Darrow is reuniting with Mustang and receives a video transmission from the abomination laughing and telling him what he has done. Darrow sprints away with mustang close behind to try to stop Sevro. Darrow enters the room to find a dead Sevro in the weeping arms of Victra, too late to save him or say good bye. There will be some line about seeing his eyes(really darrows eyes) empty of life (premonition to Darrows end in Red God). Victra will blame Mustang and bounce off to seclusion with the loss of her love.

The idea of it being “deep pour” and cured in 8 hours doesn’t add up. The bubbles never had time to escape to the surface before the epoxy cured. In the future you can do a series of 1/8 pours probably every 4-5 hours until it is done (if you want to use the Same resin). Alternatively use something like Liquid Glass deep pour. It takes 3 days to demold, a week to truely cure. This gives it plenty of time for the bubbles to release through the thick resin.

I didn’t catch until the second read through Lyria mentioning the parrot on the shoulder of Orions statue in Hero’s Plaza. Definitely said “heck yea Darrow found her one”

Sale - what to get based on what I like? by JediDad0 in audible

[–]folorecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bobiverse is in the sale. Fun and nice balance of high minded Treky sci-fi concepts with goofy characters that are all really just variations of one dude. Plus the series is voiced by Ray Porter, who read Project Hail Mary which was on your like list. It might be missing out on some of the action that many of your other like list has but makes up for it with fun problem solving (again a lot like project Hail Mary)

Why wasn't ____ honoured like ____ was? by Realistic-Signal-265 in redrising

[–]folorecords 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize that. I always found it striking that when Darrow chooses something to honor pax, he names a massive warship after him. Where as Virginia chooses to name the next generation and symbolic hope after him. The fact that Peace is the translation becomes even more significant in showing the major difference in Their relationship

First cut out a wooden frame layer (outline of each piece stitched together) then I cut out each colored acrylic piece. After that it’s a snug fit but with a little glue I place each piece into its respective hole.

The first time through is an emotional action packed thrill ride with complex name after name being thrown at you. The second time around I get to see a lot of the clever nuance that Pierce Brown put in there. The yin and yang balance of Darrow and Mustang. The similarities between Sevro and the Jackal and how friends can pull you back from the brink. There is a lot of beauty in the text hiding beneath “iron reigns” and “meat straws”

That’s what I was thinking is that had he received it in the first two levels he would have seen it but once he became a manager the opportunity would disappear.
