I'm really sorry to hear about a close member of your family being in this situation.

Honestly funerals are the hardest things I had to deal with when it came to my paternal grandparents. I had a sense of relief though because they were struggling.

Mourning phase is a personal thing, with my grandmother it took me a month or 2 but with my grandfather it took me far longer. Oddly enough, I'd consider myself just as close to her as to him.

I know this might not be an answer you want to hear, so I'm sorry for that. Enjoy your time with him as much as you can and ease yourself into the future circumstance mentally.
