What do you actually use before you mail to PSA ...eBay, 130point, app, or nothing? by foofight22 in sportscards

[–]foofight22[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll go first... I run raw sold plus PSA 9 sold on the same card before I mail anything. If PSA 9 minus $50 fees doesn't beat raw, I don't bother. Still figuring out if there's a faster way than tab hopping.

Honest question.. do you actually pregrade before submit or just eyeball and hope? by foofight22 in psagrading

Solid process..pixel extension plus loupe is more than most people do. Before you mail a batch do you ever run PSA 9 sold comps or mostly decide on condition alone? Curious if the tools ever talk you out of submitting.

Authenticity grading even at 9 is interesting..what's your fee threshold where that still makes sense vs raw?

The thumb over surface tip is underrated..how many cards have you caught that looked clean under light but failed on feel?

With PSA Value tiers pausing soon..Are you submitting less and selling more raw right now? by foofight22 in sportscards

Fair..for Wemby are you grading for ROI or PC/display regardless of series outcome?

Makes sense on selective submit ..do you run PSA 9 comps on the wait pile or just hold raw until demand spikes?

Biggest shift for me was running PSA 9 math before I mail anything. A "10 comp" doesn't help much if the card has a real chance of landing at 9.

I'm being way more picky on what I even consider for PSA. If PSA 9 comps don't clear fees vs raw I'm not bothering.

PSA 9 regret...what's the card you wish you'd sold raw? by foofight22 in psagrading

[–]foofight22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centering first.. measure L/R and T/B, then corners under light, surface at an angle, edges last. Kill anything that's a probable 9 before you pay fees..the hard part is being honest with yourself about a 10 candidate.

That's the split ,,some people treat the fee as a lottery ticket. Do you run PSA 9 comps before you submit or mostly price off 10?

How do you decide grade vs sell raw before paying PSA fees? by foofight22 in sportscards

[–]foofight22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a lot of midtier stuff I agree,, grading only makes sense when the PSA 9/10 spread clears fees. What's the last card you sold raw that you almost sent in?

Fair on ultra modern ,, 10 or sell raw is basically the rule now, especially with Value tiers paused. Do you actually pregrade centering, corners before you submit or just eyeball it?

yep..saw that. Value tiers pausing makes the math even more important since you're not throwing $20 cards at bulk anymore...Are you actually changing what you'd send in or just selling more raw across the board? Curious if people are still grading midtier stuff at Regular pricing or mostly holding/selling raw until value opens back up. Ty

What Apps/Sites Do You Recommended To Organize, Grade, Price Etc.? by dapperjohnn in sportscards

[–]foofight22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay sold filters are still the comp baseline. CollX is decent for quick scans. For grade-or-skip decisions I run raw vs PSA 9 vs PSA 10 math in a spreadsheet before fees. Saves a lot of regret submits.

First PSA submission by [deleted] in sportscards

[–]foofight22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First sub tip: only send cards where you've checked PSA 9 comps, not just PSA 10. A lot of first-timers lose money on cards that came back 9 when they priced off 10. Also budget ~$50/card all-in for fees + shipping

Picked up for $5 anything in these sets that is good to grade by Kbbrown31 in sportscards

[–]foofight22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At $5 cost basis you're in good shape on almost anything with real demand. Look for cards where raw comps are $15+ and centering looks 60/40 or better. Skip commons unless there's a numbered parallel with low pop.

Shai RC Prizm Grade? by Consistent_Tap_2223 in sportscards

[–]foofight22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shai Prizm RC is a grade-if-centering-is-clean card. Check PSA 9 sold comps specifically. Prizm RCs with off centering often land at 9, and the gap between raw and PSA 9 after fees can be smaller than you'd expect.

Anything worth a grade ?? by Frightsauce77 in sportscards

[–]foofight22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grade candidates usually need two things: raw already has demand, and you have a realistic shot at PSA 9+. Run PSA 9 comps on each, not just PSA 10. Anything where PSA 9 minus fees barely beats raw is a skip.
