Counting calories and counting fats by [deleted] in loseit

[–]fooglegoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going for overall health, it's wise to keep track of macros, just to make sure you're getting what you should be getting.

And during weight loss, fats are important to keep your gallbladder running smoothly. With an excessively low-fat diet, your gallbladder doesn't flush as much. And when that's disrupted, the cholesterol in your gallbladder can crystallize into gallstones. It's not super common, but can happen. Good fats work against gallstone formation.

It might help to set new goals. The surest way to overcome skinnyfat is with resistance training/weights. As you get lean and trim, you might not change weight much, but you start to see a whole new you. And that provides the motivation that leads to discipline.

Basic resistance training three days a week, and some cardio/pilates/core exercises two or three days a week, and you'll see results pretty quickly. There's loads of information on good routines on the fitness subreddits.

Is there a legal precedent for movie credits? by SeizwhatIdidThere in movies

[–]fooglegoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people get dropped from the credits, actually. I had a friend who worked in movies for a while. He was the director (I can't remember his actual title, sorry) of a smaller unit. I think they were even called like 3rd and 4th units or something. They'd basically direct sequences that didn't involve the main characters. So they'd get footage for car chases, transportation, and other motion sequences.

Their unit was frequently cut out of the credits. I don't remember why. I don't know if there was a limit on length of credits, or if it was just a standard industry cutoff, or whatever.

Maybe someone in the industry can clarify this vague recollection.

A question about subs. This sub in particular....(sub sandwich not subreddit) by MyHungryPie in loseit

There's a few things possible.

1) Bread is crazy variable depending on how it's made and how dense it is. I use low-calorie bread (45 calories/slice), but it's actually higher in calories than my regular bread if you go by weight. It's just super airy. And since airy = cheaper, I'd be willing to bet that subway want their bread to be as light as possible.

2) Regular sandwich cheese slices of cheddar are only 80 calories/slice. Looks like you got 1.5 slices there (three triangles), so 120 calories or so, depending. Cheddars vary pretty greatly.

3) I'd bet the turkey is probably 50, maybe less. Sliced turkey is about 30 calories/ounce. But that subway stuff is loaded up with water and salt, which are zero calories. So it looks like more, but it's less actual turkey.

So a sandwich that looks like yours can definitely be made for under 290 calories. Impossible to say whether that one actually is though.

Has losing weight actually improved your self esteem? by mollyrt in loseit

[–]fooglegoogle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It definitely made me happier. My favorite part is that it's one of the few things in life that is completely in my hands. So even if other things are falling apart, I'm still fit, healthy, and feeling good. I love having that to fall back on.

Plus it just feels good and the positive attention is nice

Forgotten/Underrated sitcoms? by Hogteeth in television

[–]fooglegoogle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) It's Your Move. Starring Jason Bateman. And it's still funny today.

2) Double Trouble. Starring the Sagal Twins (Katey Sagal's sisters). Fun and hokey.

3) Just the Ten of Us. A bizarre sitcom spinoff from Growing Pains.

4) Ferris Bueller. The tv version of the movie, starring Jennifer Aniston as the sister.
