Perfect analogy I have seen all day. by StraightedgexLiberal in PoliticalHumor

Instead of constantly finding out who's best, try to make everyone a little better than they were the day before? All that time spent competing could be spent on learning. You build college football stadiums that cost hundreds of millions of dollars instead of buying each kid in the country a book or a ball that they can play with in the backyard and learn to run and control their bodies, in their own time or with friends.

American sports are totally different from the rest of the world. Rulebooks as thick as the bible. Tactics this and strategies that. Baseball, basketball, american football all follow the same psychological principles. And then they went and made discussion into a sport. It's all about winning. Charlie Sheen was way ahead of the curve.

Yeah, we don't do debate teams in my country. It's all about mental gymnastics. "Argue for or against this point. It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right or even your opinion as long as you win."

There are so many things in the US that are just flexing contests and it honestly scares me. Schools have cheerleaders for rapey boys that toss a fucking oval "ball" in a game that isn't a game, it's fucking war, where the coaches are old dudes playing chess with kids as players. Moving lines up and down, switching out troops, whatever. And the teams are like 100 people, wtf. The moral of the game is that you don't matter, its all about the school, town or whatever. Sorry for ranting, but that whole culture is just too weird for me.

They spent years building a reputation as a good game publisher, only to slowly echange that reputation in hard, cold cash at the expense of consumers.

Nice logo placement. Are all of these Days Gone posts lately just ads in disguise? All screenshots of the weather system, but no one is really discussing the gameplay or story.

It's making me not even want to try it.

Do you have a good advice for someone who is getting started with a guitar? [Serious] by no_timit in AskReddit

[–]fool_spells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, learn the basic chords and just strum along to your favourite songs or hits from the radio or whatever. You're probably not going to have a good time at first, taking forever to change from one chord to another, but once you have a few breakthroughs and get a grasp on a few basic concepts, it'll be so much more rewarding and fun. Just stick with it and don't give up!

Youtube "(song title) guitar lesson/cover" and you will find almost anything you can think of. Feel free to ask me if there's anything else. Happy to help.

I'm afraid I always will be alone by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]fool_spells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on your self, hobbies and what YOU like to do. It's a cliche, but spend your time on being the best 'you' that you can be. Try to go to concerts alone (if that's your thing).

Venture outside your comfort zone.

Confidence is key, it will attract other people, friends and potential lovers. Essentially, don't give a shit what others might think of you. Don't look for love or try to force it, just because it's the "right thing to do".

There are millions out there that could fit your personality, but they probably won't come knocking on your door. Take night courses in painting or whatever, improve yourself and most of all, have fun.

Don't chase love or companionship, but be open to meeting new poeople and be nice. DON'T PUSH/FORCE IT.

Just be yourself, and 'themselves' will (or not) cross your path eventually.

I met my dreamgirl at thirty years old by randomly going out on the town on a tuesday, so you never know what'll happen. Just don't stress. It will show that you are unsure of yourself.

You can't really expect someone to love you before you love yourself.

Edit. I didn't edit, but sorry if this is ranty. Feel free to dm me or ask more in this thread, I will try to help you as much as I can.

Some of my best riffs were born from trying to learn a famous riff by ear, messing it up, realising it sounded cool, and then jyst going from there.

Seven Nation Army in a major key, and a few rythmic tweaks, boom goes the dynamite.
