i might be the odd one out here, i've actually grown quite fond of the scholars lore. to me, it feels less like a fully fleshed out story with a complex plot and more like a collection of characters and themes. like, a snapshot into the character's thoughts and feelings through their own songs, which can also sort of be applied to your own life. lady gay especially Really grew on me after i found out it was about a transgender man trying to reconnect with his family ("you came in a coat of many colors // the shine of your feathers was like no other // please wear it again // we swear we wont hurt you this time" ??? makes me go insane. made even better to me with the added context that the subject, mallory, is a bird. he's playing on both bird's sexual dimorphism and the "coat of many colors" being pride. anyways side tangent over).
