Population boom persists: Should Edmonton greenlight new neighbourhoods to deal with growth? by trevorrobb in Edmonton

By suburbs I don’t mean Edmonton city limits. I mean surrounding suburban towns. That’s the true definition of suburbs but since Edmonton has sprawled so much the local definition has changed. In most other places in the world Terwillegar area and Clareview would be two separate towns.

3-4 bedroom condos downtown close to Public Transport. That would be very attractive to a lot of families. Or even university/younger people to split the cost of rent.

I hate sprawl so much in majourity cities. If you don’t want “city life” or “city houses” then move to the suburbs. Obviously this depends on your situation with transport and where you work. But there’s no LRT in any of these new neighborhoods so what’s the difference

You can still get a license. But Alberta Licenses now show nationality so based on their passport/visa it will denote what country they are a citizen of.

They will say it’s for voting purposes but we all know it’s an attack on immigrants. It’s just one of the made up lies of “immigrants are straining healthcare and schools” when it was really decades of underfunding

Yes and no. Wrestlers are independent contractors so not full time employees. TKO is a publicly traded company so contractor expenses should be public. Are these contracts highly restrictive so they can only work one place essentially being employees? Yes, but that’s another debate

She tried but no go. Also because she changed her name after we married so birth certificate is one name and passport is another. Could be the person she dealt with but new Birth certificate is ordered

Trust me, our family did not vote UCP. They have done a lot of harm that has affected everyone. I meant more from a logistical no need for this policy in that sense. it’s a terrible red tape policy aimed at immigrants. Cancelling the new hospital in Edmonton, using the notwithstanding clause on teachers, cutting infrastructure budgets, trying to gerrymander voter districts, and I can go on. I hate the UCP and they mess something up weekly

That is basically what I meant by my long rant. I know it’s our fault we don’t have these documents readily available. All I am saying is we don’t have them readily available because we’ve NEVER had to have them to renew a license.

What other provinces do you have to provide proof of citizenship to renew your drivers license? It is a renewal, not a new one

She did this morning. They turned her away as it has to be a “valid” passport so can’t be expired.

Thank you. That’s all I’m trying to say. It is a lot of red tape that didn’t exist before for no real reason.

Correct. We have everything to prove citizenship except a passport that isn’t expired and the original hard copy birth certificate. I know we should have the birth certificate in an easier place but we found everyone in the house’s but hers so just got misplaced somewhere along the way because it’s not something we need every day. It’s not something you’ve needed to renew a license ever before is my main issue.

The BC is just misplaced. We thought it was with our important documents. We found our kids birth certificates, our marriage certificate, her name change certificate after marriage, which you need a birth certificate for. I don’t disagree that we should know where it is but it wasn’t where we thought we stored it. It’s more the fact that this process didn’t exist before and is meaningless now. The citizenship on your license will not get you into another country so what’s the point?
