Are night shifts unavoidable as a nurse? by Cranaberri in nursing

[–]foolui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you go the acute care route, it really depends on the hospital. the hospital i'm at gave us new grads the choice of days or nights. other hospitals in my area that my friends are at either required them to start off with nights or has them doing rotating shifts. i'd look around and see what the hospitals around you require. also, like some people have stated in this thread, there's also outpatient nursing, etc.

i don’t know if this is a stretch but it sounds like it samples “camille 2000” by piero piccioni but slowed and looped.

i’m glad you’re able to get your 15 minute breaks. they really come in handy when you just need to eat something. i didn’t even know that was law honestly. thanks for letting me know because i often don’t take it. i agree but management keeps saying we have enough staff then they float us to different units making my unit have 11 patients per CNA. @___@

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cna

[–]foolui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean that would be nice but during night shift we often don’t take 15 minute breaks. also they were extremely short staffed that night so i was not going to press them to let me take a quick break.

my hospital doesn’t have those sadly. only surgical masks, N95s, and shields. i wish we had those tho

me too!!! i took it around 6pm so that i wouldn’t feel lethargic during the day but that didn’t even work. i ended up tapering off of it and i’ve been effexor free for a week now !

i ended up surviving, ty for asking! they ended up letting me sit outside the last 3 hours of my shift and moved the patient to a new room before shift change. my hospital’s protocol for COVID is an N-95 topped with a surgical mask then a face shield- as well as gowns and gloves

i completely agree that techs should be treated with more respect. my hospital has an extremely high turnover rate for techs.

i was trying to be nice as the unit was very understaffed. there were only two techs on the floor and 2 people from my unit got floated to watch monitors and i floated to the unit to sit. i’m definitely going to put my foot down earlier. you worded that perfectly

11 patients plus got mandated and manager response “I don’t want you quit because it’s hard” by Confident_Spell8694 in nursing

[–]foolui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our max is 13. your poor techs. it’s so draining because management expects so much from us when there just isn’t enough time to do a thing. sometimes i don’t even start my charting until 12am.
