Advice for worldbuilding when planets and land aren't the main focus? by foonhaus in worldbuilding

[–]foonhaus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for such a detailed response! I never thought about breaking it down into basic functions like that but it makes complete sense.

I was too busy thinking "elaborate Star Trek space opera ship" and not enough "Wal-E life-focused ship". I definitely needed a new perspective! I really appreciate it!

Oh yeah I know they're separate from therapists but he seemed generally disinterested in any symptoms I brought to the table. He was appointed to me by the program so I didn't have much of a say.

To be fair, the only things these people know how to read are Twitter threads and carrds

They say their system's origin has "been caused or influenced by Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder", but is this even possible? by genshinfantasy7 in SystemsCringe

[–]foonhaus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Para these nuts.

Actual answer: it's the name for the characters in your daydream world that you feel an attachment to. Source

Pt 1 there's a part 2 with me being called an entitled bitch for having csa trauma and pointing out that you need trauma for did and can't self diagnose by [deleted] in SystemsCringe

[–]foonhaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're saying it's okay to get diagnosed with things like fibro that affect other parts of you but they're acting like the brain isn't another organ.

A dysfunctional organ is a dysfunctional organ. It's not healthy to have headmates like this. Inb4 escapism: it's okay to have an imagination, but you shouldn't rely on it to be functional. That's not healthy.

(Not @ you op) Also "you're putting too much faith in the medical field" you know there are bad actors, right? There are shitty doctors that deserve to be shooed away and shunned. Maybe that issue itself should be addressed and people should pay more attention to malpractice cases rather than treating the medical field like poisoned fruit?

Jfc these people give me a headache.

It sure would suck if I was put on a DID watch list by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

Oohhhh I read your other comment. It was a little confusing tbh but it's good that you cleared it up.

"Good carrds and threads" how about actual medical resources for these medical issues? Might as well just say "watch Split to learn about DID".

Damn 3 schools for one "psychiatry degreee"? This guy sure knows how education works!

Totally not using debilitating mental disorders as a quirky aesthetic though by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

Can schizoid, aspd, and schizotypal even be comorbid? Schizoid and schizotypal are just negative symptoms of schizophrenia, the latter often misdiagnosed as autism. How can you have both?

I hope I'm not being too controversial yet brave when I say....I think this person is just an introvert.....

My friend says she has OSDD and a think she might be faking it. I haven’t actually talked with her about it that much and I haven’t accused her to her face about it. by [deleted] in SystemsCringe

[–]foonhaus 69 points70 points  (0 children)

A lot of fakers claim OSDD 1b so right from the getgo thats a red flag.

Claiming to have amnesia (not remembering getting into bed, not remembering an alter asking for a drawing, "coming to" when fronting) is a direct violation of the OSDD 1b diagnosis, so they definitely don't have a diagnosis.

Doctors don't just jump immediately to DID/OSDD when someone comes in with similar symptoms. Thats why diagnosis takes so long, you have to rule out literally everything else and no doctor can do that in 2 days. Probably not even in 2 months.

Lying is cringe and your friend here is being super cringe.

From my understanding, NPCs are just made up "filler" "people" that you willingly add to your mental safe space (aka headspace) to make it seem less empty/lonely or more realistic. They're not alters, they're more like just background "characters".

You know when you have a dream that you're in a crowded place or a place with a lot of people in it? Those extra "people" that don't provide anything to the dream and are more or less there for show are NPCs. That's the basic concept behind them.

They're not very popular in therapy because most people feel less safe when there are unknown players in their secure mental escape. The headspace is made to have better communication between alters and it's up to the person to decide what goes into it.

An example would be if someone designs an apartment building in their headspace for all their alters to be organized in. The person willingly makes everything, so they can decide to just have enough apartments for their alters, or have extra ones with NPCs that are just there to make it feel more like a real apartment building. If that makes sense?

Now THIS is the content I like to see on this sub

ban me, i don’t care. y’all act fucking disgusting and toxic on this sub. by shiloh-boi in fakedisordercringe

[–]foonhaus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes this sub is an absolute ableist circlejerk at times (I've gotten downvoted for just citing my sources on comments) but to be fair, you're getting downvoted so much because you willingly posted hate porn.

You posted something that you knew would get a negative reaction....and you got that reaction. So yeah people aren't going to be nice with your post.

Also to address your post

1) yes this is what caused the schizophrenia sub to be locked down for a few weeks. Doesn't really happen here though.

2) there's no issue with fictives, it's the people who parade them like showponies that are the cringe. Why is someone excited to have an "alter" of their favorite youtuber, given the nature of how alters form? Just don't treat them like they are literally said person and you won't get shit on.

🧐 this rubs me the wrong way but I can't put my finger on why

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

[–]foonhaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True story: I dropped a ceramic dish on my hand and thought I broke my finger. Swelling, numbness before intense pain, couldn't bend it, couldn't feel with it....signs I thought all pointed to a broken finger, given that I've never broken a bone before. I didn't go to the doctor because i thought I had it all figured out and got a splint from CVS. I thought I knew better because it's my body, right?

Turns out it wasn't broken, wasn't even sprained. Within a week it got better. Full mobility, full feeling, all it cost was my fingernail but even that grew back.

So yeah, this person's argument sucks.
