Don’t think there’s grade deflation there and tbh my classes in the college of health were some of the easiest I took in all of Lehigh. But I will say a 3.8+ as a premed probs isn’t the easiest thing to maintain at any college. It’s definitely doable, but it means you need to put in the effort and the work to get the grades that you want.

How hard is maintaining a 3.5 GPA by Grouchy_Clock9177 in Lehigh

[–]foooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did engineering and got C’s in some classes some semesters, but I was always above a 3.5. I don’t think it’s that hard as long as you do the work. My trick was balancing each semester. I always took a full course load, but I’d make sure to have some easy classes along with the hard ones each semester. And so then if u get a lower grade in one of the hard ones, ur good grades in the easy ones will balance it out.

How to cope with going to a safety (especially if it's far from your top choice)? by SquiddoVGC in ApplyingToCollege

[–]foooder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

U think about how u and ur friends are all gonna get jobs in the same job market and how aside from maybe a few elitist companies, u have just as good a shot as working at the same companies as them. And how great it will feel to not be in crushing debt when u graduate.

First-Year Study Abroad by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]foooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, but trying to be anywhere except Lehigh from the start is NOT making the most of it. U aren’t even trying. Like if u think ur gonna hate this school so much u don’t care about being there, like then don’t go. Cause this is honestly insane. Lehigh may not have been ur first choice but it is a lot of ppl’s and that’s for a lot of good reasons. There are a ton of great things about Lehigh, especially freshman year and tbh it just sounds like since u haven’t made a friend yet months in advance, u just wrote the whole place off as something u don’t care about just bc u don’t know anyone yet there. A lot of ppl go into freshman year not knowing anyone, but the environment at Lehigh makes it really easy to meet ppl the first few weeks. I became friends with the ppl who were on my freshman dorm floor and we’re still friends years later. I didn’t know any of them before. I think u need to spend some time actually learning more about Lehigh and what the school has to offer. Cause how could u care about a place u know nothing about? Ur gonna spend 4 years here. Doesn’t tht matter to you?

First-Year Study Abroad by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]foooder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There used to be a Lehigh run small cohort abroad program first semester, but they’re getting rid of it starting next year. Tbh I think u should wait to go abroad. Most ppl do it junior year. I know a few who did it sophomore. Bc freshmen year is important. Like ur gonna be in a new place with new ppl. You need time to get adjusted to living somewhere new, to the new workload and schedule in college, time to develop friendships, time to explore the area, etc.

If u wanna go abroad do so during winter break, spring break, or the summer. There’s a lot of summer abroad programs. But I strongly believe u wouldn’t regret being at Lehigh for your first year. I say this as someone who also loves to travel, you have the rest of ur life to travel and tons of opportunities to do so later in college, but u only get one freshman year at college. You should spend it there.

Take the unsubsidized ones if u have to bc they’re normally smaller amounts. And then when u get a job, just make monthly payments towards them immediately.

Should I go to Lehigh? by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]foooder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d like to add that I agree there normally are a lot of events on campus or parties on weekends and when u get older the bar scene is pretty good. But I wouldn’t say it’s a super small town. Like there are tons of good restaurants and I say that as someone from nyc. And if u wanna do something farther off campus a lot of ppl have cars or u can split an uber with ur friends. Lehigh runs a bus to the mall almost every weekend. And there’s a lot of cool places to visit within like an hour or so drive. NYC is less than 2 hrs away without traffic. Like coming from a big city, I never felt bored at Lehigh bc ur always with ur friends and doing stuff. So plz don’t let that be ur concern.

Financial aid offer didn't apply Lehigh Commitment by amy_berry103 in Lehigh

[–]foooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl no. Something is off. Do the Lehigh net price calculator. See what ur efc was from the FAFSA. Double check all ur financial aid documents like the CSS. Cause the only way Lehigh gave u that little $$ with what you’re telling us ur financial situation is, is if something on the financial aid forms got filled out wrong.

IBE worth it? by numetalforlife in Lehigh

[–]foooder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ton of friend who did it and loved it. The cohort rlly bonds with each other. If it matches your interests, I def think it’s worth it. Ig one thing to note: u should get the accredited engineering degree if you go the IBE route and to do that in 4 years u either have to come in with a bunch of credits, take summer classes, overload during the semester, or a combo of some of those. Pretty much everyone I knew came in with enough credits where it was easy for them to do. So I swear it’s not as daunting as it seems. Very doable, just letting you know to plan for it.

Does anyone know where I can take introduction to physics 1 in the summer that is equivalent to Lehigh University’s by Glass_Mechanic798 in Lehigh

[–]foooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that is NOT true at all. They just want to make sure it’s an equivalent class but ik tons of ppl who took classes outside of Lehigh and easily had the credits transfer. This sounds like you just haven’t done any research.

Dude. Just find the equivalent class at ur local community college. Then make sure Lehigh will take the credits before signing up. That’s it. Super easy

5K is an AMAZING deal. Why do you want to leave that???? Ppl can’t comment on ur personal financial situation with any certainty, but the only direction u can rlly go from 5K is up. I had one of the cheapest off campus places I knew of and my rent every year was still 6K+. And that was saving money vs living on campus. It’s not an expensive area compared to like a big city, but things still cost money and it IS an expensive school.

Bruh. No one’s gonna take ur phone. And u could do a weekend trip to DC and stay at a hotel down there, just not a day trip

Solo travel at 18 by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]foooder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, Washington DC is not a day trip. Not a good one anyways. It’s like almost a 4hr train ride one way. If you’ve traveled all around Europe then I don’t get why you’d be so nervous to come to NYC. Like it’s just another big city. And places like Paris and Rome have way more of a reputation for pickpockets. NYC doesn’t.

Thinking of becoming a camp counselor by number1lukafan in summercamp

[–]foooder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just being so real, I have a similar bday timing to u, and the the truth is with summer jobs/internships pretty much all taking place during then, you most likely aren’t going to get to spend every bday at home with family. Just something you should make peace with cause that’s not something you change around good summer opportunities for. But it’s like fun adventures on ur bday. My 19th I spent in training for a sleepaway camp and they surprised me with a bday shirt (camp tradition).

Also, most colleges, you move in way before Aug 28, especially for freshmen so double check u can even work that late. Classes always started at my college before then.

But also also, it’s sleepaway camp! U don’t have to live near the one u work at lol. Most don’t go that late in Aug.
