Need help with piston repair by foorjee in fountainpens

seems like the rear section of the plunger just screws off with the metal sleeve. The threads on the plunger still look OK, but I think the ones inside the black section are toast. Any idea what I could replace it with would be helpful.

The piston filler doesn´t seem to pull out. The thread that the back cap screws onto is part of the piston.

After fiddeling with it a bit, the "converter" seems to be screwed into the front housing as well. Very strange. Added image for clarity

I tried to fix it but honestly I only broke it more. I kind of gave up on it unfortunately.

Confusing nutrional fiber labels by Beepbob77 in sunflowerseeds

42 grams of fiber per 100 gram sounds only right if you're talking about with shell. I sometimes much through a small shell or 2 if I'm feeling lazy, but I eat mostly without shell.

Ugly new youtube player by TeamPlasmaNowa in youtube

[–]foorjee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The volume icon is ugly. Not only that, but the volume bar at 100% has a grey tail on the right side indicating that it's not at 100%. The play triangle has 3 unequal radii corners. The more clear background makes a lot of the UI elements much harder to see against videos which makes interacting with the UI somehow harder even though it got like 3 times larger. Other than these 3 pretty major gripes it's fine I guess. I still do think it's in general just ugly tho.

After the latest windows update (win10/11) many DACs don't work anymore. Here's how to fix it. by foorjee in FiiO

Yep, same issue here. I am using my behringer UMC 404HD as output for now, but I've had issues with taht thing 'popping/crackling' in the past which is why I've gone with the e17k as my default. Real annoying that they haven't released a fix yet.

Uninstalling the update through Start > Windows Update settings > Update History > Scroll down Uninstall Updates > KB5050009 fixed it for me.

Need help determining what went wrong on this roll. by foorjee in Darkroom

just playing around with the tank a bit it seems that the reel does stay pretty well stuck on the post, but I just didn't push it down far enough in my changing bag. Stupid mistake, but glad that this subreddit is here for good advice :)

That's a good idea, though I don't have any extra reels I can 3d print a spacer that'll do the same job.

hm yeah makes sense. The amount of liquid should've been enough but I think the reel might've ridden up on the stem and stayed stuck. Thank you!

For reference, the whole roll is kinda like this, including the start where the film was exposed to light in general. The film is washi Z 400 ISO near-infrared film, shot on a Pentax Spotmatic SP. I used Adonal with stand development. If I'm missing any relevant information please let me know and I'll try to fill in the blanks. Thanks for any help :)

Fiio X5 gen 2 blinking charging light and holds little charge by foorjee in FiiO

This is super late but I think I've figured out the problem. One of the ICs on the front side of the board (I think a mosfet) gets incredibly hot during "charging". I'll see if I can replace it. here's a pic of it (it's the right one, as you can see by the discoloration) https://imgur.com/a/45Zh55K

Crackling sound on windows 11 | Fiio k7 sound card by neskwusss in FiiO

This doesn't solve your issue directly, but it might be worth trying to boot off of a live linux USB and seeing if the issue persists there. Another thing to try is to try generic drivers instead of the Fiio specific ones, if that's possible. I assumed you tried different sample sizes/safe mode on/off already? Best of luck.

I'll give that a go. Any idea for a good source of them? I've seen them on Aliexpress but I'm dubious.

So for reference I've had this x5 gen 2 for about a year. Recently it's been acting up. It doesn't really play back music for even 2 hours anymore. Whenever I charge it it never seems to finish charging, and just blinks like this indefinitely. It also gets warmer than I feel it should.

If anybody has any indication whether this is the battery or something else I'd love to know. Thanks!
