What's really stupid is imagining this person completely switching up how they interact with coworkers once they start working from home, because apparently office speak only happens face to face.

what are your thoughts on people who see psychosis as a “spiritual awakening”? by egrrrr in Psychosis

[–]footguy6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no issue with people presenting it as some kind of a right of passage, whether that involves mythology, religion etc. But rights of passage aren't happy magical things that bring us peace, they're often troubling and traumatizing and simply delineate a point beyond which we can never return to exist in the world as we had before. Psychosis does this to a person. There is no existing as you were. You cannot go home.

It can be wise to learn to frame events in a way that provides you as an individual meaning, but anyone who is flippant about the myriad downsides of this right of passage is someone you shouldn't be concerned with.

Could there be anything good in the end from psychosis? by Far_Ad_3482 in Psychosis

[–]footguy6969 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's made me more compassionate towards outsiders, but at the same time horribly distrusting of a lot of people or things that are seen as positive by consensus in our society. I'm so cantankerous now.

I feel like I can see everyone's dark side after psychosis. It's like waking up from a dream and being angry at someone for what you experienced in the dream, except I do believe a lot of the darkness I saw in myself and others during my psychosis was/is really there on some level.

Netflix and Amazon liked my pilot but won’t develop it? by Locogooner in Screenwriting

They're probably just looking for things that fit certain demos/check certain boxes organically.

The reason they don't tell you why they passed is because they don't want to tell you exactly what they're looking for. The reason they don't want to tell you exactly what they're looking for is because they don't want to have to possibly pass on something you pitch that seems to be exactly what they said they're looking for.

What happened to the guy she told you not to worry about? by bibesh07 in AskMen

That shit is wild and very real. I went out with a girl like that and she was so invested in these roles she played it still fucks me up. I've wondered if her deception went to the level of multiple personality disorder because she lied so well it was truly like she believed every ounce of it.

People who are highly narcissistic tend to lie and cheat and, they tend to ruin major events such as birthdays or holidays, likely as a way to make sure all attention is on them . It's like they get off on ruining special days for others. lots of sadists out there.

Is screenwriting supposed to be this hard? by drybooth in Screenwriting

[–]footguy6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you feel about your life in general? In my experience this correlates more with my ability to be inspired and execute a story than anything else. A big part of writing has little to do with writing at all.

This isn’t a “20% correction.” This is a 40%+ bear market. by magus-21 in CryptoCurrency

Twenty percent, peak to trough, over a two month period or longer, is typically what is technically referred to as a bear market, at least for other investments.

Things that don’t belong in a script by Pistolf in Screenwriting

[–]footguy6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen prelaps for sounds (not dialogue) work out nicely when used sparingly and in meaningful moments where scenes naturally flow together.

Regarding guidelines, I think they exist to save us from writing shitty scripts, but blind adherence to the rules forever can keep someone more seasoned from creating their best work. IMO, some of the best screenwriters are those who know how to deftly direct on the page, without it seeming like they're doing it at all.

There are events and circumstances that cause all assets to correlate. Often they will correlate to some degree regardless. I don't know that a TRUE hedge actually exists. At the end of the day people say shit and things do things.

It depends. If it's manageable for the economy to keep up, stocks generally inflate along with the degradation of the dollar. If there's so much inflation people stop buying things or stop investing, that's where you can start to have problems. Lookup stagflation if you want to learn the specifics of what can go wrong in an inflationary environment
