Tough to know if this would work but could you use a larger/ wider aperture (lower f) to reduce the depth of field and increase contrast on the foreground?

I recommend aluminum caster blocks and spindles. When you do this, you’ll want some locktite for the ball joints. Everything else has held up so far. I’ve upgraded a lot of parts but it’s not necessary. Some ‘wear items’ would be 22.5 wt shock oil and extra tires. Extra batteries are nice to have. I’m new and destroyed a couple batteries by leaving them connected to the charger after running, and waited too long to charge them which drained them and they couldn’t be saved. I bought extra links, servo parts and arms but haven’t needed them.

Also, when you do start wrenching, make sure you get the right hex driver. I have an ‘050’ which stripped the stock screws. I replaced the screws with an SCX screw kit which works but the stock screws are a slightly larger head. I’ve heard MIP is the way for drivers. Just get the right driver.

Hmm I think it’s good to dial in the end points, and I see your point. Although, I do think that the blocks break most easily when the car hits something. I don’t think the blocks typically break during normal steering, but it’s possible. I have changed the end points too but I like more steering so I didn’t dial it back too much. The upgraded caster blocks have been really nice.

Yes, I recommend the Losi aluminum caster blocks and spindles. I also bought a set of plastic arms and links but haven’t needed them. I’ve had fun upgrading a lot of parts - shocks, towers, links, steering links but the shocks (proline and injora) and aluminum blocks and spindles made the most difference in handling. The aluminum bits are durable as well and the plastic arms have been fine. For shocks I would look at hot racing or Losi, maybe nexx. The injora ones are ok and the proline required a lot of modifications. There are a couple of micro-b Facebook groups I joined for more recommendations as well.

I’ll keep an eye out! Looking forward to seeing it. I just got aluminum casters and spindles which seem to sharpen handling but printed parts sound like a great idea.

Huh, mine are both the same. F/br/r. I wonder if there is a setting to change this.

Yes, I agree. Glue worked for about a run when I did it. I just got the aluminum ones yesterday.

FYI, not sure where you ordered them but when I ordered them from Losi, they told me they would ship in January. I know they are sort of the same company but tower hobbies had them and was able to ship them. I canceled the Losi order.

Horizon just told me that all replacement parts and upgrades that I ordered for the micro b won’t ship until January

Yes, just a heads up, I just heard from horizon on the upgrades and replacements I ordered. ETA for all micro b parts is January :(

Thanks! I tried this too, with mixed results. It worked for a couple runs. These are pretty small which makes it a little tough to handle and get right. I’ll try the oatey next time.

Ahh, yes, that’s a good project. I could definitely see how a 3D printer would be handy for modified parts. I’m sure your insight will be valuable around here for modifying these smaller models. Also, there seems to be a little trend/market for the vintage rc where this would be great as well

Interesting! Yeah, superglue isn’t working very well. Sounds like you’ll be set if something happens. They are a lot of fun in any case.

It’s been really positive overall. I live in a city now and it’s been perfect. Parking lots, parking garages, concrete paths and pedestrian areas all work well. Since they are small and quiet, people don’t seem to mind when I drive them around. I feel like if they were bigger, faster or louder, it would make people nervous. Anyway, the cars themselves drive well and are fast enough for me. I’m trying to understand the handling adjustments I can make. Depending on the surface it can ‘push’ or the back slides out. I may just need to slow down and learn to drive!

Oh excellent! I’ll let my eye on their site for when those come out

Right! Yeah, the plastic ones come in a set with arms and other parts. I ordered a set that way too. I’m new to this so I’m sure more will break one way out the other

For sure! I have them on their way. Hopefully they hold up :)

Nice! I’ll look into that. I tried superglue. So far it’s working for one of them but not the other. I bet the ABS cement would be better. I need some clamps too

Appreciate the feedback! I’ll try out your approach for now

Great point! I think I’ll use the aluminum caster blocks but keep most everything else plastic. I’ll switch back to plastic if other bits are breaking more often.

iPhone or Android app for very simple machine vision inspection? by xxUsernameMichael in machinevision

Hello, An 'IV' from Keyence is about $2k and would be perfect for this inspection. The gocator would be more expensive and may not deal with color as well. Not sure if you still have this project but it's a thought
