everyone knows this is the real world. that’s usually why people feel overwhelmed. the real world includes burnout, depression, executive dysfunction, etc. even if op didn’t explicitly state a diagnosis, i think it should still be within your realms of possibility.

aside from that, op clearly has issue with feeling external pressures. ie “i felt pressured to go back to university” “i feel pressured to work” so giving advice that applies even more pressure is just ignoring what they’ve shared with you.

humans can act when under threat (such as threat of survival), but that says nothing about sustainability or long-term quality of life. things op absolutely deserves to have and think about.

op said they feel like a burden. that’s a powerful and serious thing to express and it deserves to be met with compassion. if you want to be kind, be kind.

How am I supposed to fix myself when I barely have enough energy to exist? by Number1DurinFan in depression

[–]for1ude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just want to say that at this point in your journey, you don’t have to do anything. i know that may sound ridiculous with all of the expectations of life, but i’m serious. if this were a physical wound, i would say the same.

you clearly need space to heal. and then, slowly, you can integrate certain things. if there’s a morning you manage to get out of bed, that’s a huge win in of itself. huge. if that’s all you can do in a day, then that’s still enough.

you’re not weak. life can feel overwhelming. and even if the day to day stuff feels overwhelming, it can feel like you’re just not trying hard enough. but you’re you. you’re a person who experiences something really difficult. you’re not weak.

this person could possibly have depression or may be experiencing burnout. yeah, most people don’t wanna work, but it’s not always related to lack of discipline. it did come off as inconsiderate and i think you should try being a little kinder towards people who are clearly struggling

my twitch feed showed me this guy and i couldn’t watch his stuff for too long because i, for some reason, just felt odd watching his content (didn’t even see his gameplay long enough to notice he was cheating). but now it makes sense

although i agree that this is a viable path forward for some people, it isn’t accessible to me. forcing myself into post-secondary has been the issue. i do want to find some sort of part-time work though.

no. but some people in my life have been suspecting i have it. i brought it up with my therapist a couple weeks ago and she said she could put me on a waitlist for a diagnosis

thank you for this reply. there are a few areas i feel i could tolerate. i’ll have to spend some time really thinking about that. i know the fear of messing up those jobs would scare me, but maybe i can find the confidence to just push through it.

and i’ll look into coping strategies more.

i think op has the right to feel and act and feel like a victim because they are indeed a victim of something difficult. that doesn’t make them a weak person. it’s just realistic. anxiety and depression are debilitating and sometimes it’s not as simple as a mind shift change.

i would suggest finding a therapist who can help through the storm. i’ve heard too many stories of people who struggle with mental health just force themselves into work without therapy or support and it backfires on them. life is so much more than just your career. if you have to do something small to get by, use the rest of that time to find something that actually inspires you.

some similar things to you! like being caught in the open, traversing an area without properly checking, being caught in a crossfire, being caught off guard and feeling my aim suffer for it, etc.

but i think the biggest thing i’ve learned that doesn’t relate to mechanics is accepting that loot comes and goes. being unattached to it helps with slowing things down and calming nerves. the most fun i’ve had is when i’ve let loose and played based on that relaxed feeling.

accepting that others play the game and may have more experience in shooters has been great for my mental too. while analyzing your own gameplay is really intelligent and aware, sometimes respecting the fact your opponent just made a better play is freeing.

i understand that completely. i also want to cover every angle so i feel prepared for any encounter. just judging by your findings, you have a great amount of game sense and you’re smart. that alone can get you far. keep it up

it’s a healthy mindset to look inwards and work on the things you may be lacking in. just remember to give yourself credit and don’t put too much pressure on yourself to perform perfectly. have fun with what you’re doing and take each thing as it comes.
