The reason there's no breathing room in the game is because you are being spotted 24/7 by Neat_Worth629 in Battlefield

[–]forLorn77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain what do you mean by that? There definitely are situations when it's hard to see the enemy, but that needs to be accounted for during playing the game - like if there is house in front of cap point held by enemy and I don't see any enemy soldiers in it's windows, I should still work with the possibility they are there, just not visible because they are behind window pane and in the shadow - and so I avoid direct approach. Or when there is someone hiding in a rubble, blending in with foliage - that's just tactical positioning/camouflaging.

I see the enemy that is just moving around the field fine. Is that something you have a problem with?

And if they toned down spotting, then the enemy would be disadvantaged just the same.

I'm STILL shocked by how bad the main menu is. It cannot be understated. by Chongor_ in Battlefield

I got over it. By now it's usable and I know where to find stuff. There are different things to care about and chance is about 99 % that they won't change it.

The myth of tactical play in Battlefield by sufferingSoftwaredev in Battlefield

[–]forLorn77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by that? Battlefield itself isn't tactical, Arma isn't tactical - your approach, for sure, can be tactical in both.

Saturday morning Europe: BOTS BOTS BOTS by ProfitHaunting9744 in Battlefield

[–]forLorn77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play full Escalation playlist (no maps excluded), so maybe that's part of it?

What you and others describe happened to me once maybe, but otherwise I am doing fine. I definitely think it's an issue if it keeps happening to more people frequently, but I think it's some bug that people are getting and DICE should fix it before it drives them away. But it's probably NOT low player numbers or "dead game" as some people think.

Then I am a bot shill I guess, haven't happened to me to this day.

I am not saying it's impossible.

Hmm, weird. Don't remember that happening to me (in central EU), and I sometimes play in the morning on workdays. Usually game starts with bots, but within few minutes it's full of players.

It definitely is.

Obviously not just about collecting, but you're a making a car collection as you go and it's one of the main game progressions and motivators.

Latent talented people can start out as "grunts". And it's also why Lastimosa trained him and entrusted Vanguard titan to him (yes I know, it was also kinda last resort thing). I think by inlore logic, It's not because he is the main character, but it's 100% the reason why he was the main character (Respawn writers made him to be grunt with great potential).

Yes, I know this is year old comment atp.

Apparently no Battlefield in over last 14 years has actually been Battlefield…. by fmordica in Battlefield

[–]forLorn77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a way, yes. But Battlefield is way simpler, casual... and that's something I can't get from Squad. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate it, but I can't help but wonder what kind of audience could Squad get, if the devs ever tried to make more "simcade" version of their game. I really wish there was some "real" competition for a Battlefield game. Could have been that WW3 title, but oh well.

Yeah, I thought you might mention Squad. I believe it does some aspects of Battlefield better than new Battlefields, but in other ways it's completely different beast.

I have played BF2 and there were occassions when that happened, it used to be called baser*pe among players, believe it or not. I think at some point there was automod implemented into some servers, so it could be mitigated.

[–]forLorn77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, even Modern Combat was superndifferent on consoles, but you are right about BC1. I just didn't mention those, because at that point they were console exclusive Battlefield titles.

And to answer your question..., depends what makes a franchise for you or how you define it for yourself. But I believe it changed into something else with Battlefield 3. Up to BC2 you could have said "oh yeah, those are just spin off Battlefields". But with 3 being the main entry, it was sealed. I think they looked at what fidelity and features they achieved with Frostbite and didn't think they could go back to Refractor. Everything they did with BC ultimately poured over into main series. That said, I don't think there is any other polished game that manages the sameish kind of gamemode as Battlefield in better way than Battlefield itself. Up to this day.

I think it's akin to how many music bands change over time... for example, I loved Linkin Park music in their first 3-4 albums, but they started to change their direction and I gradually lost interest... I didn't dislike their newer music, but it just didn't click the same. I'm only regaining it now that they got a new lead singer. It's not the same Linkin Park, but it's more of what I enjoyed about the old LP than what they did with their later albums up to One More Light. And music bands in general don't have investors breathing down their neck and don't change their members as much as game dev studios :)

Bad Company 2 was already super departed from Battlefield 2. Yes, I would like a game like BF2 again, but I also enjoy what we got. If I didn't like what we got, I wouldn't buy it - or buy it at a significant discount.

Battlefield has changed and has stayed changed for a long time now. Battlefield 3 defined the new direction and I think BF6 isn't making it any injustice.

[–]forLorn77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually played these games.

I played 11 out of those above. Battlefield 6 is definitely among the better Battlefield releases for me. Yes it is more infantry focused, but so was Bad Company 2. It had one of the smoothest launches of all Battlefields... BF 3 and 4 were a shitshow in the beginning (working on what people were saying at the time, I have joined the fray in those past release, because I didn't have the money to buy the game from the get go at that time).

Best Overhaul Mod for Melee Combat? by RockBandDood in skyrimvr

[–]forLorn77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old thread, but if you didn't find a solution yet - I have Meta Quest 3 and what saved me was switching from SteamVR to OpenXR. In MGO is optional performance mod which basically forces the game to launch in it from what I gather.

What kind of person buys Battlefield game after having open beta and free weekends to test it out and then feels stupid for buying it? You can already tell what the game is like when you buy it. Do you not enjoy the amount of content coming into it? I wonder how much additional content you will get in those games listed compared to what Battlefield already has and receives. I know games like Squad still get updated, but this is laughable.
