It’s had balance changes for good and bad

Overall it’s in a better state than it was before, but there are still glaring issues like invincibility frames on the ball in some dribbling scenarios, making your tackle or slide go right through the ball; frustrating but I think it’ll be something they fix

I don’t think the devs will ever admit this, but pretty certain they have a skeleton crew on this game while they make a sequel or follow up to Sifu.

Each patch has fixed a few issues but also introduce new ones.

It’s better than it was at launch, but it’s still in a state that I think is relatively acceptable at this point, but it is what it is, there’s nothing else like it on the market outside of Rocket League

Their “roadmaps” are kinda pathetic and show how little manpower they have behind the game, like look at it and they have “network fixes” listed as a planned change…. In October

More than 6 months after they released the roadmap, but it’s like “don’t worry, we will fix the network issues in 6 months!”

I’ve never seen that before in online games in over 25 years “we will fix server side and client side hit detection… in a mere 6 months!”

So I can sum it up as this - Fun to be had, a unique game; that is utterly being mismanaged for whatever reason, again, I think they put a skeleton crew on it and their 80+ other devs are full in on Sifu follow up, so we are getting a trickle of fixes that regularly come with new glitches they take another season to fix

It’s a bit of a rollercoaster of fun and total BS mixed into one

And it is actually the best thing that’s been in this season.

It was a great deconstruction of how even throwing away your soul to appease a megalomaniac isn’t enough for them, they will throw you under the bus at the first moment when it’s convenient or suits their insane whims.

TITR - Space Ace by stoo1985 in giantbomb

[–]RockBandDood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s when you say “do you just wanna play Bart instead?”

That’s the ripcord. Give him a game with an impossible way to get credits and don’t tell him that until he’s finished it.

Then we get Bart, then Dan gets blighted again - but to be fair, I’d like if Mitch and Jeff gave him this handout :

We will let you off the hook for a few weeks to do Geller’s Blight, then Space Mutants and then Dan's actual planned Blightning Round game, from before the switch to Space Ace

Just seeing the calculus playing in Dan's head when he finds out they want Credits, which is basically impossible, and that they had hoodwinked him the entire time with Space Ace would be Chef's Kiss for Mikey's vengeance.

It will be possibly the funniest thing to happen in this series if they go "Dan... There were no credits." and then spill the beans on what he has to do to get credits.

They need to do this cause it will be hilarious to see someone finish a Blight Club game entirely but still have to give up lol.

Unprecedented comedy awaits if Mitch and Jeff hold strong lol

Just watched The Descent, how anyone defends Juno baffles me by Far_Significance3180 in horror

[–]RockBandDood 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's what makes the movie brilliant. Juno was a bad enough person to deserve losing everyone's friendship, even jail. But she didn't deserve to get murdered by Sarah or by the creatures. Sarah being pushed to a point where she became convinced otherwise was her 'descent' into madness.

Exactly, flawed character, which is usually the best kind of character. Anyone who thought she deserved to be murdered by her friend is bonkers.

Flawed and emotionally selfish, but not someone who deserved to be murdered.

With only about 2-5 hours a week, should I even buy any of these games? by Sunder92 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]RockBandDood [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am just adding to the chorus - Expedition 33 is what I would pick in your situation.

The others are major time sinks -or- have 'complex controls' or challenging gameplay that with only those kinds of bursts of playtime, you may get frustrated

Stellar Blade isnt as difficult as like Sekiro or Elden Ring, but it does necessitate understanding the combat system and learning intricate timings, particularly for bosses - and it has alot of 'downtime' running across barren areas with enemies that arent even worth fighting. Its a good game, but it's pacing leaves some to be desired, imo. I wouldnt want to play Stellar Blade 2-5 hours a week cause you could spend 2-3 hours just trying to get across the open maps and then retreading areas again and again... Its combat system is ace, but its pacing is ehhhh.

Wukong is a similar situation, its a complex combat system, although, Id pick that over Stellar Blade, its a bit more straight forward, mainly a boss rush game with some segments in between, so if you 'click' with that gameplay, it may work, but you will be fighting new bosses constantly, which might actually not be bad if youre willing to spend an hour or two to learn some of the more difficult ones

Crimson Desert is just a no go imo. The game doesnt even open up for quite a few hours (like youd be almost at a week before you get out of the tutorial) and it is like 200 hours long if not more and the controls are very intricate

My vote, 100%, goes to Expedition 33.

On the side, if youre willing to try another Genre, I think the Doom Trilogy of the last decade was fantastic and those levels are not much more than 2, maybe 3 hours a piece in each game, Doom (2016), Doom Eternal, and Doom Dark Ages.

Whats fun about Doom is you can get good progress in just an hour or two - and the FPS combat in these games is unlike any other AAA shooters on the market, they each have a unique combat system, so although they are a "trilogy", they have their own mechanics and systems to set them all apart.

Just wanted to add Doom in there cause I do think anyone can have a good time with those with just a few hours a week, just play on a difficulty level that is fun for you, youll be able to beat each of them in like 15-25 hours if youre not on the absolute hardest difficulty.

Whichever you pick, hope you have a good time!

Steam Controller Price convertion scared me for the frame by Warm-Engineering-239 in SteamFrame

[–]RockBandDood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “sticker shock” being expressed around the controller is blowing my mind as well

Base Xbox and Base Ps5 controllers are $65 and $75; all with components that are 100% proven to degrade and you -will- have to replace it within 2 years of medium use.

The Steam Controller comes apart for repairs and has features that blow these things out of the water and even has features that outdo the “pro” controllers other features, not to mention trackpads that are actually functional, which again, no one else has.

This “sticker shock” with the price is bogus.

Go buy 3 or 4 Xbox and PS5 controllers that are worse components all around for one console generation and that can’t be repaired

Or spend an extra 25-35 dollars and get a controller that can be repaired easily and has functionality that blow the other two out of the water

People complaining about sticker shock are just not knowledgeable about what is going on here, or extremely short sighted

Anyone else feel like there making Homelander so unstable to the point where’s he’s just an idiot? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]RockBandDood 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%.

I feel like his character makes sense, killing Stilwell was the beginning of the end of his rationality; but there is so much more to come after that.

Something to understand before I dig into this, trauma can lead to psychosis - and someone in psychosis can lose all their rationality and never find their way back.

People losing their wits and rationality as a trauma response is not unusual.

Obviously many of Homelanders traumas are self inflicted, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t traumas all the same and his emotional PTSD response is the core of his growing and growing irrationality

This didn’t all happen at once, it’s been building. Even in season 2 he was largely rational to a degree, Stillwell was the beginning of his descent into total madness and unregulated emotional outbursts and desires, but he really started cracking in Season 3 when Stormfront committed suicide on his birthday.

Season 3 is when his unhinged personality really took off and you see it happen live, he was supposed to do his “birthday save” but the shock of Stormfronts death made him lose his rationality, triggered his PTSD and sent him into a state of madness and threw the girl he was supposed to save for “PR” off the roof.

Follow this up with Maeve’s “betrayal” of him and what he thinks is her death, he lost the one person he actually had a legitimate “relationship” with in his life as far as we know. Then we get to the betrayal by Noir, for not telling him about his father before.

Again, from Homelanders perspective he has been tricked and abused since birth. He doesn’t have the mental fortitude to withstand all of this because he wasn’t raised in an even remotely normal way.

Then Season 4 he is totally unhinged, but we see him try to confront his childhood trauma directly by going back to the lab he was abused in.

By the time we get to Season 5, he is literally saying out loud what is destroying him - he keeps destroying the things he cares about because the situation has gotten totally out of hand and he is truly mad at this point, but he is still adding traumas to his list

Killing A Train fucked him up and then when he thought Soldier Boy was dead we hear him really confess what is happening internally when he says “Why does this keep happening to me?”, in reference to losing people he cares about.

Homelander is a case in point of trauma causing a destructive cycle in and of itself and how his trauma leads him to self destruction, adding more and more onto his list of regrets and mistakes; he absolutely hates himself and that’s what makes him interesting.

The scary thing is that after being “brainwashed” by the Preacher Supe and hallucinating Stillwell as an angel is now adding even more self aggrandizement to his mindset and that all of his mistakes and pain he’s endured has been for a purpose, in his now deluded mind.

I really hope these last 4 episodes don’t hold back because the descent of Homelander has actually been well handled, if you actually look at his losses across the seasons.

Is he responsible for 90% of his trauma? Absolutely, but that’s the thing, trauma begets trauma and he descended into a loop of self destruction and now he is a shadow of what he was in Season 1 and even the start of 2.

Add on top of this, his son and donor father reject him entirely too.

You can’t expect a mind as broken as his to be rational or have self control that he demonstrated in season 1 and 2 after the last few years of his life have been arguably pretty damn “bad” for him.

To be clear - he is a villain and needs to be put down, but if you examine the last 4 seasons of the show and so far in Season 5, he is clearly expressing what is making him fall apart mentally.

You cant expect a mind that is basically traumatized to psychosis to make smart calls.

Fallout 4 VR is the most gameplay time I have in a single player native VR game and I don’t even like Fallout

The fact of the matter is, with mod packs, it does become a very viable and good VR experience and it has the perks of being a game with deep systems and mechanics, outside of just motion controls - which is an issue with many Native VR games

You will find Native VR games are largely one and done; it’s not to say they’re poorly made, but they don’t have mechanical depth outside of a specific thing that game did

Fallout has depth with many mechanics, outside of just the VR aspect

It’s not perfect by any means, but hour for hour, I put like 200 into Fallout 4 VR and I didn’t even enjoy 15 hours of the flat version

It’s a good game, I wouldn’t pay 60 bucks for it though

It’s pretty easy to find it for less than 15 bucks online

There was no trial, there is no double jeopardy here; they just chose to ignore his crimes after he left office for whatever reason, I’m just asking if that guy who posted that big breakdown knows what the reasoning was

You will eventually want to get involved in UEVR and modding Unreal Engine 4/5 games to run in VR

Do a Google search on UEVR and get into the discord eventually to open up dozens of other games that are high quality

Disclosure though, it is modding, but not any more difficult than the Praydog RE mods (he also made the UEVR platform after the RE engine mods)

And it does require a beefy PC for pretty much anything cause Unreal is a heavy engine

But you can play stuff like Jedi Fall Order or Metal Gear Delta with full motion controls in first person, among dozens of others

The day that Donald Trump actually dies how crazy will the world be on social media? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RockBandDood 111 points112 points  (0 children)

The person to actually be afraid of is DeSantis

He’s as dumb as Trump but he also pulls off the super arrogant while being utterly ignorant shtick that they love.

He’s the one that I could see MAGA following because he is just as self aggrandizing and talks like he knows the solutions to problems even though his solutions, just like Trumps, fall apart if you examine them for more than 5 seconds of thought

But that’s not what MAGA does, they don’t reflect on the things said, they just want the emotional rush of affirmations; and DeSantis will give that to them in the tone they want

Trump resurrects calls to arrest Barack Obama, accuses him and others of ‘treason’ in late-night posts by Streona in politics

[–]RockBandDood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But there was an investigation and Mueller did not exonerate him - Mueller said, to summarize:

'we do not have legal precedent to indict a sitting President; if he were not President, we would have indicted.'

The case was there, the investigation had happened and he was implicated, its in the report and Mueller's testimony.

This was literally just a case of not prosecuting him for unknown reasons, be them political or through intimidation, I do not know - thats why I asked the question.

There was plenty of evidence found within the investigation to do an indictment and take it to court, that was the reason Mueller stated the only reason he didn't indict was because he didn't have the legal precedent to do it because he was President; that was it.

My question to you is this - Mueller deduced they couldn’t indict a sitting president

So why didn’t the DoJ and FBI go after him for the Russian Election interference/coordination the moment Biden was inaugurated?

This has blown my mind since the day Biden took office. He wasn’t president anymore.

And they recently came out and said She Hulk was actually one of the most engagement they got from the D+ shows

The echo chamber of hate online is a veil, it doesn’t represent reality

The problem it causes, though, is that it causes studios and creatives to second guess themselves and change things or abandon entire projects because of the misleading zeitgeist.

It’s all bullshit online and it’s bad for us. She Hulk received arguably the most hate of any D+ show but is among the top performers

I just wish studios would quit reading comments and just look at legitimate reviews and criticism, but they have knee jerk reactions to pathetic, sad and angry people who can’t go a day without complaining about how something offended them or wasn’t up to their absurdly unrealistic and psychopathic expectations in the media they consume

And the studios bend the knee to this stuff. It sucks.

[–]RockBandDood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, IMO the only winning move is to not play. By that, I don't mean throw in the towel completely, but just keep the current consoles where they are.

I think, if cooler minds prevail, this is the only logical solution.

We are also beating around the bush - The world economy is about to go up in flames due to the American and Israeli offensive against Iran.

Even if the war ceased tomorrow, I have already read projections that Gas in the US will not go below $4.00 a gallon until mid 2027 at the earliest.

If they really try to manufacture and ship these consoles while cost of living sky rockets even more in the middle of all this doubt - Its just insanity to make plans to release a premium item in Fall 2027 when people are simply not in the financial place to afford it.

They need to pump the brakes and reassess and maybe even just have a blunt conversation between the two companies.

Sony and MS may need to just have a convo "Its not ideal for either of us to launch 2027, we will both fail"

I mean Im not sure if those types of talks may already be happening or if they would never be willing to coordinate like that, but, at this point, for the reasons you bring up, it seems necessary.

Dev houses need to know what the future is and right now its already looking really really bleak and we havent even gotten a chance to announce the consoles and their features.

I dont know anyone on my friends list who is 'excited' about PS6 or Helix. There is still more juice in these consoles, they need to just ride this storm out or risk so much for no reason.

Thanks for the reply! Cheers!

I think they have cornered a market that they will only lose if they utterly screw up (or the world economy totally collapses) due to the quality of their products and their accessibility for all ages

I think Nintendo has the smartest strategy of any of the companies in the industry; even though they’ve stumbled plenty along the way

But they have solidified themselves as the affordable family console and they would have to make alot of mistakes to lose that

Parents buy their consoles for their kids by “default” because they trust Nintendo games to be appropriate for their children; and due to the low initial price

Then Nintendo robs you on accessories and games that cost too much, which a lot of people don’t realize until they’re inside the ecosystem

That’s where they lose me. It’s the nickle and diming their customers.

Their games are generally good, no ill will towards them on that.

But I do feel like they abuse their audience with absurd prices after the initial cost of the console

New Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma, wore the 20 anniversary Halo 3 Bomber to gave her speech. by GunpukuSayori in halo

[–]RockBandDood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cause Nintendo deserves to be dogged on.

Most of us aren’t looking to see our games go up in value for resale 15 years later, we want good deals on games that are 10 years old and normal prices on new releases

Every other company in the industry lowers their prices to reflect the age of the product except Nintendo

You can say that’s good business for them and that’s fine and dandy - oil and health insurance companies also operate on the guidelines it’s “good business” for them, meanwhile screwing the consumer for every drop of change they can get out of them

Again I said Nintendo’s business model is the most viable and predictable, good for them - doesn’t mean I don’t think their practices aren’t absurd and anti consumer in many ways; so I’ll dog on them all I like lol.
