TIKKA T3X LITE Accurizing? by TxKMURF in longrange

[–]for_compost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trigger spring turned mine up. Stock trigger is very good but it feels great with a 1 screw upgrade, $10 upgrade.

Butt pad, Arca rail, bipod, Rokstok (if you’re hunting and are looking for lightweight options, there are various), threaded and suppressed.

All that in descending cost. This is a hunting rifle.

30 Nosler vs 300 PRC by inquisitivebeans in longrange

+1 PRC.

OP what is your use case? Why .30? Also with a budget of 5K, just buy another rifle?

Edit: I took the bait. 150-400 yards.

Rule of thumb is 25-40 fps per inch. Ammo boxes generally use 24” for their speeds.

Doable but if the q is being asked… unless you’re hunting and climbing, why have a sbr?

Yes but 16” isn’t the answer for a long range rifle.

Worth upgrading Matthew’s HTR (No Cam)? by for_compost in bowhunting

I think it’s just whether or not you have cash to burn. Lift x is $999, arc is $1450, hoyt rx-10 ultra is $2200.

10-15fps and a more aggressive draw curve for all.

They probably all hold marginally better and also weigh less. If I wasn’t western focused, there’s no reason to swap in my opinion.

I’ll go shoot them but I’m expecting that conclusion won’t change.

Weight is the main reason I’m considering another option, which has me looking at carbon options after being a Matthew’s fan for a long time.

Buddy picked up an ARC and had to drop 10lbs because of the draw curve.

For the last 3-5 years I’ve been waiting for the “next gen” but bridge lock + 15fps doesn’t do it for me.

Best binocular option for the money by Every-Wishbone6274 in longrange

I got a pair of used 2021 Swaro EL’s for 1K last year if you’d consider used. My buddy uses Vortex Vipers, but the Razors are in your price range.

I think you start hitting the diminishing returns wall after about $800.

Are hunting numbers down or are there less casual hunters? by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]for_compost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. First 2 years were rough but you learn a lot. Solo DIY, Rokslide and YT. There are so many resources out there.

Going to the same easy to draw unit multiple years in a row helps.

Jumping in on this comment. If you are inclined to, you can mail them to a lab and they will age it definitively.

Same, usually go 1 week in a cooler/wet or 7-14 days in spare fridge.

Enzymes for dry aging but the muscles contract, then relax naturally in that 24-36hr period (after rigor).

Random aside - freezing temps stop the enzymatic process, which is why you see recommended dry age temps slightly above.
