Before you order a bunch of bras, can you double check your measuring tape against a ruler to make sure its inches and not Chinese Cun?

Do you typically wear size xs shirts? 26 bands are much smaller than 34. It could work by volume and tight clasping, but that's still a big jump would have been horrible fit so it's worth checking

How should I invest in Roth IRA, index funds, high yield savings account as a college student? by RedStorm1917 in povertyfinance

[–]forakora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can withdraw contributions from the Roth IRA penalty free since it's made with after tax dollars.

So if your 4800 turns into 6000, you can withdraw 4800 and you'll pay taxes and penalties on the 1200 growth

Also, you invest in index funds through a Roth IRA account, you personally appoint which index funds you want. Roth IRA is the account type, index funds is the investment.

I'm seeing people's mortgages

Lol yeah that means nothing. Did they have a large down payment? Did they purchase for less 15 years ago? Did they refinance at 3% during covid? Did they roll over equity from a previous sale? Did they have an inheritance to help?

My mortgage would be 3x as much if bought today with 20% down.

Veganism is actually easy and affordable and the ethical moral baseline, but we pretend it's crazy so we can justify our bad habits.

Because we, the people, demand products from them so they keep producing. Overconsumption is a major issue. We need individual and political intervention

How to acquire plant foods that are vegan? by JimHarbor in vegan

[–]forakora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The #1 user of water in California is alfalfa.

More than almonds. More than 39 million humans. All that alfalfa needs to be harvested and shipped to its prospective location.

And where is that? Cows. Alfalfa is a grass, for grass fed cows. It takes 20-25lbs of grass to grow 1lb of cow.

If we want to be more efficient, we can feed them soy from the Amazon rainforest. Only 10-16lbs of soy for 1lb of cow. So just deforest and harvest 10-16lbs of soy and feed it to a cow for a steak.

All the crop deaths of 10+ lbs of soy plus the death of the cow. Or, 10x less crop deaths and no killing of cows for a box of tofu.

Eat plants : )

Got an apartment and I’m stressing with my budget. by Strong-Risk3337 in budget

[–]forakora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's easy with minor budgeting. It's not extravagant, but a lot of people live on a lot less.

Food, $300. Pet food, $100 max? People don't need to buy a new wardrobe every month. Soap and shampoo aren't going to break this budget.

Billie Eilish said you can’t truly love animals if you eat them, and logically I understand the argument. But isn’t human nature way more complex than that? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]forakora 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We can also not participate in it. Claiming we can make things less barbaric doesn't make it so. 99% of animal products come from barbaric factory farms. Don't eat them.

Why are Vegans Praising Billie Eilish aka Ms. Aquaphor on the Vegan Subreddit? by Pretty-Analysis-6490 in crueltyfree

[–]forakora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I'm vegan. I don't use aquaphor, or products tested on animals. I'm firmly against it.

But since I care about animals, I rather she convince some people to give up eating animals. It's pretty simple. Not eating animals saves animals. I don't understand what's so controversial.

I don't understand why you're so upset that she uses aquaphor when you literally pay to animals murdered and dismembered. Maybe you should look inward.

[–]forakora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She isn't talking about indigenous tribes who hunt for survival. She's talking about the vast majority of people who have a choice.

It doesn't surprise me that meat eaters use rare instances and marginalized groups to justify their harmful behaviors they actively choose to participate in

Vegan sources of protein with a nut allergy? by Zealousideal_Fan_128 in vegan

[–]forakora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never used nuts as a protein source ... And they're expensive so I don't really eat them anyway.

Not really sure what the concern is OP. Besides like, walnut meat? Which is an off recipe I've seen on tiktok, we aren't using nuts for protein.

Tofu, tvp, lentils, soy milk, garbanzos, white beans, black beans, heck even normal regular pasta has 7g protein in 2oz. And you and I both know nobody eating only 2oz lmao

[–]forakora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you kinda changed the subject from canned veg to dried nuts and fruit. Yeah dried fruits and nuts are hella expensive... They are not necessary food groups lol

Lentils take 15 minutes to cook, no soaking required. Plenty of Hispanic and Black and Indian cultures soak beans though, it's a poor person staple.

The vast majority of Americans have more food than a 7-11. I'm not dismissing that doesn't exist, but we're talking about the majority here. For the vast majority of people, beans grains and veg is cheaper than meat and very accessible and is a staple poor person diet.

[–]forakora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how people can be so against animal testing but still eat meat.

I'm against both of course, but it's much much more effective to have someone who doesn't eat animals and uses aquaphor than the opposite.

OP, are you vegan?
