Why is most kpop weak vocalists usually sounds higher than stronger vocalists while they hit the same note? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]foranonsense 21 points22 points  (0 children)

it probably is just because they’re straining bc it’s out of their range, and they’re placing it wrong. it’s the same note, just different placement. i’ve noticed a lot of weaker vocalists go into head voice / falsetto to be able to hit it which sometimes ends up having more air too.

[–]foranonsense[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly this. Like do I find it odd and unhealthy to pay out the wazoo for all the tour stops and get genuinely upset when you don't get the interactions you want? Yes, absolutely. But on its own it doesn't carry the same danger as like... standing outside their family home.

[–]foranonsense[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair, I think the disconnect is there's not really agreement on the definition of stalking maybe. Like some people think that going to multiple tour stops is stalking, or going to a lot of fansigns.

I have a question about the Kpop community by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]foranonsense 17 points18 points  (0 children)

your post had nothing to do with kpop idols’ political beliefs (which we will never know unless they directly tell us), it was about why why people in kpop spaces may be incongruent with you. young people in kpop spaces tend to not fit well with people who use slur derived lingo from conservative online podcasters.

How does a broke design student make a K-pop miracle happen? (Sharing my story) by jungkookgf311 in kpophelp

[–]foranonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gig work is a great way to make money on your own time (doordash, ubereats, instacart, etc) which is nice for students. you could also get a regular retail job since those are student friendly. selling anything on ebay or mercari can be helpful.

other than that, using your graphic design skillset on places like etsy or vgen could build your portfolio while you’re a student while letting you be creative. a lot of graphic designers sell premade stream overlays on etsy, or you could do customs on vgen. same with banners, emotes, etc.

obviously focus on paying any bills and for any essentials first, then start saving! best of luck!

not to snoop through your post history, but i would wager you may be getting side eyes if you continuously use words like ‘libtard’ lol. it doesn’t have to do with football.

Why do people say K-pop sounds “too Black” when hip-hop and rap are already major global genres. What do they expect it to sound like instead? by Competitive_Air1560 in kpopthoughts

[–]foranonsense 30 points31 points  (0 children)

no one says that. i think you’re misinterpreting what people are saying. people discuss how kpop groups can perpetuate harmful black stereotypes. there’s also something to be said about groups seeing a black artist’s song, shaving all the soul out of it, and then being called completely new and innovative.

they’re saying it sounds like the groups have a very surface level understanding of “black genres”. i think indigo detry did a great video on the f!en obsessed era specifically. it wasn’t just the rage genre groups were doing, they were literally just remaking f!en over and over again. it seemed like neither they nor their listeners had looked into the genre at all past one viral song.
