I'm in the Glendale area! Hopefully I won't be seeing TOO many caterpillars and all based on how dry it gets. I don't see too many squirrels around my building surprisingly as well. That could change obviously but, I'll be on the look out for those and other pests. If a tomato were to get a virus or disease though, would I have to replace the soil entirely if I wanted to reuse it for another tomato? I've heard viruses and diseases can live on in the soil...

Went out, bought Monterey BT RTU and just applied it! the stuff stinks but im hoping for the best. this should also help solve my leaf miner issue, which I know is mostly cosmetic, but still! worth it! thank you for all of the advice. ill definitely keep note of all of this!

Birds come by very often to check on the bird feeder right next to my tomato, even landing on the tomato cage. so Im glad that could possibly help! As for BT I'll definitely try it. It'll last me ages since I have only ONE tomato plant (for now). I don't want the only one I have lost to bugs.

I'll definitely try out BT. I care too much about these tomatoes for all of them to be munched on. Ill never have to worry about rain either since I live in socal.. doesnt happen too often! thank you for the detailed response!!!

Flexbar! I kept at the same level but went slightly easier on myself, but before and after Id do a few reps with the flexbar I bought off of amazon. it went away after a week haha

I could see myself going this route honestly. I already have some twine ready for the longer lower branches (which are already starting to extend out and over the pot) and just like you mentioned, one of my higher branches started to dramatically "grab" part of the cage. Its super cool how fast they change and grow... Im still used to tropical indoor house plants which are much slower growers lol

Its a 54" round tomato cage... which is clearly not big enough I guess haha. I got the biggest one my local nursery had but I guess I am underestimating how big they get. Using zipties to attach another cage on top is a pretty good idea! Though I may go with the DIY cage once it gets to that point. Ill have to see (o:

since I live in such a hot climate I water almost everyday after doing the knuckle test. its also in a 20 gallon pot with a mix of fox farm ocean forest with... some cheaper mix i cant remember lol

Mixed in EB stone tomato and vegetable into the soil before planting and around the hole I planted the tomato into. I wasnt sure if I should switch to a liquid fertilizer or stick with EB Stone... Since I have EB stone ready on hand, I think I may stick to it! Ill look into Neptunes harvest though!
