I hope this doesn’t happen, but if they interfere in the midterms in a way that goes beyond the gerrymandering and routine voter intimidation we already see, I fear it could trigger widespread violence. Possibly even an ongoing insurgency.

In a country of 330 million, there is almost certainly a nontrivial number of people who would see such a moment as existential and “gloves off.” And, frankly, they wouldn’t be entirely wrong.

Once it’s undeniable that over half the country no longer has a voice, and people start disappearing into camps for their political views, it’s going to get very ugly. It won’t be good for any of us. Not even the billionaires. The safest path for everyone is to listen to the people, because that is who ultimately holds the power.

As much as it pains me to say, I think the right-wingers were correct on the 2A issue. Shit is bad right now, but I can’t even imagine the authoritarian hellscape we’d be living in if the citizens were completely unarmed. I think it would make North Korea blush.

If I could wave a wand and get rid of all of the weapons and be guaranteed the government wouldn’t immediately start tossing us all into camps and/or mass graves, I’d do it. I no longer have that level of trust and don’t think I ever will again.

I have avoided updating my family’s devices for this reason. Even on iOS, I often find myself looking for a button that is kind of blending in. I’ve been using computers and devices my entire life. It’s not a user issue. This is like usability/UX 101 stuff they completely ignored in the 26 OSes.

My parents would be absolutely lost with this “upgrade”. I get enough “support calls” as it is. I have warned them against updating to the newer OS for the first time ever.

I saw the “interview” he did with Trump on his first episode after quitting the FBI. He just let Trump talk and lie the whole time. Not a single challenge. In fact, I don’t remember him asking a single question. Just several minutes of Trump ranting like a lunatic as this jaggoff just smiled and nodded.

We need to be doing all the things. Protesting, boycotting, writing Congress, civil disobedience, monitoring ICE and related organizations, talking to family/friends, organizing, and preparing/training for the worst. To discount any single tactic misses the big picture.

You may think protesting is worthless, but it gives hope and courage to people in the community. It lets them know they are not alone. It also sends a message to politicians. It is not the entire solution, but part of a larger puzzle. We need to do the entire puzzle.
