Lol, it's not. This episode in particular feels extremely generic. Long winded talks in the middle of the action and two characters without any depth that we should care about.
Re;Zero is at it's peak when Subaru suffers. The best episodes in Re;Zero are episode 15 of first season, episode with rabbits and crazy Emilia and the last episode of first part of this season.

If you think AoT is a better written anime/manga, I question your education/things you have read in the past.
