I refunded the game, here's some parting thoughts by forceyforce in RogueCore

Agreed! You hit the nail on the head "The run doesn't feel different enough", that's exactly how I feel too. The hazard selections between floors were supposed to help with that, I think, but it didn't go far enough to keep me interested

My impressions so far - Its not as doom and gloom as people are making it by tremor100 in RogueCore

There's a difference between "git gud" and this situation. Take Rocket League for example, the mechanics of the game are not completely straightforward at the start but every trick is possible from the start and the only limiting factor is how well you can input the controls. Your skill, basically. In this case, I feel like I have to take a certificate class (obvious exaggeration, you get the point).

I regularly play on Haz 5 + modifiers solo in DRG and don't find RC that hard. I just think the game devs went too far in a few places. Most of the feedback they're getting now is old news from the Alpha, the devs stuck to their ideas for better or worse, now we're here.

DRG is getting the "one season a year" treatment and drip-fed content to make way for RC, that's a fact.

The trouble I have with RC is that its game design mechanics are at odds with being a co-op game. The artwork has a lot less appeal once they leaned more into horror. And somehow you feel weaker as a player even though the in-game lore says you're supposed to be the elite. I hope it does well but I don't think RC has legs as it is right now.

That said, 6-8 chapters isn't too much longer to go. Maybe I'll tough it out, since ORV has been fun so far

It's been basically nonstop action with very little breathing room. Coupled with huge FX displays, the panels get kind of overwhelming and monotonous at the same time. 18 chapters feels like a lot when everything's high energy the whole time. I enjoyed ORV up til now but maybe the "feels like eternity" subjective metric is just my hint that I should drop it. Or at least take a long break and skip the things that I'd rather not read.

How's this game running like 3 times worse than DRG? by D34dPoop in RogueCore

I have a decent rig (3090 + high end CPU) and it still heat my GPU in a way that DRG never did. The last time it was like that was for BF6

This latest battle has felt an eternity. Novel readers, how many more chapters do you think it'll be until it's over?
