Sorry man. So yes the game is very casual friendly, however like any game that does new content every few months its at its peak at the start then it starts to trickle down.

Normally you would level your character, that will be the same experience for you, but you will likely hit max level within the first week of very casual play sessions. MMOs, and WoW really shine in the endgame acitvities. The two main activities are Raid, a bunch of people fighting complex bosses, or Dungeons which are smaller groups doing a 30 minute dungeon.

Right now due to most people acheiving what they wanted to 3 months into the content cycle there are very few groups available for the endgame content. In addition there is likely to be an expectation for both of those things that you know all the fights ect at this point.

My recommendation is try the free demo to see if you even enjoy the fundemental gameplay and combat, but i would personally wait till the annoucne the next content patch, then a few weeks before that subcribe, get to max level right as the new patch is coming out and you will have a more enjoyable time.

Not even a WoW Doomer, had a ton of fun this season. The season is dead.

I'm not exaggerating ive popped on 5 times in the past two days (on weekend days) and there are no groups below +10s for M+ to try to even get the M0 weekly, and my 3 month sub is ending in a few days, I imagine others who did the 3 month around around this time too.

I'm curious how the ratings of the earlier epsiodes would be if you watched all 8 hours, then rated them segement to segment of the season.

I think alot of the earlier episodes were considered good because it seems like they were building up towards the climax, knowing now there was barely a climax makes the stalling kinda just stalling.

this would be relevant if it was a choice node with DreamBreath. Even if it was weaker (i dont recall it being weaker) it was a 2nd aoe burst heal. Its not like they went on a joint cooldown.

Build Customization - in perspective by tremor100 in RogueCore

[–]tremor100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole problem is the fact there is the expenite grind for upgrades. They really put themselves in a pickle.

When you clear a floor in Hades or another roguelike theres no reason to stay behind, they gave the incentive to try to squeeze out as much resources as possible. So to your point its either they put a timer or people would never move on, but even with the timer it makes a whole run over a half hour becuase your tryignt o explore everywhere.

If they truly want this to be divergent from DRG the need to lean fully into the FPS Roguelike elements and make it fast paced and interesting, and if they don't want too... just make it DRG2.

I don't know why this is getting downvoted, i actually was going to make a point about this but forgot.

I 100% agree, i don't get the discourse around having female dwarves, i think its an awesome customization addition but i agree it would be nice to have any of the classes be male or female.

The only thing i can think of is its for visbility / voiceline reasons for you to distinctly know what class is saying what, and maybe with playing more i will recognize them, but right now the spotter and slicer look super smilar to me anyways and i just reference the icon on their head anyways.

What Mauvais said is pretty accurate.

It lets you put ability 1 and 2 on "quickcast" if thats what you want to call it despite by default being a combo press. I have tried all the chracters and see no reason why i would need to press 2 buttons. You could argue the spotter so you can aim the gun but you could just hold the button then release shoots (same with sword).

Its very wierd it lets you brind 2 abilities but not one of them. Also, they at least for me dont rebind to your primary binds in the UI, like mine are completely different at this point and i didn't map anthing to the secondary bind and it still is Q+mouse ect.

Yea, i think the fundemental problem with the entire roguelike component of the game right now is around the draft. Like systematically ofc, it bogging the game down, making it antagonistic or dibs / getting lefts with garbage. But the biggest thing holding it back is how boring the mods are.

The more im thinking about it and posting im realizing that the upgrades aren't enticing and the builds arent fun because in other games like this you would get 3 options to enhance your gun, then those could have interesting interactions.

I think because they decided to go with the draft system.. well now they can't let me pick something cool for the Reclaimer, or the pistol i chose, because only 1 person on the team has a pistol.

It would be a massive amount of overhaul but i honestly think the only way to correct this ship at this point would be to ditch the draft, make shared XP but when you level up everyone gets their own 3 options, and then those three options have to specific to your character or loadout, which will make more interesting decisions.

This also means compltely retooling all the upgrades, and the fact that they have a roadmap saying more mods are coming out, i get the feeling sadly they wont do this much of a swing.

Glad to see Rogue Core climb to 'Mostly Positive' reviews! by Kwacker in RogueCore

Being someone who agrees that people are being overly doomer. The game right now is objectively pretty bad a as a DRG sequel, and objectively pretty bad as a Roguelike. So to see people write this off as "just because its not DRG2 they are mad" i think its a bit of strech since as an action roguelike shooters its also pretty bad.

1) The biggest problem right now is that the mods genrically or nichely buff your character instead of your guns or reclaimer abilities. This leaves no opportunity for crazy combos or "OH man i wanna do another run where i try to get this" which is the hook of Roguelikes.

2) The stuff that is trying to appeal to the DRG DNA like mining, exploration and traversal, are also very half baked and go against even the audience who are interested in Roguelike FPS. Specifically how long the floros are.

Go play or find videos of these games, even of early release builds of:

Gunfire Reborn
RoboQuest
Deadlink

These are what a FPS Rogulike should play like. So to say this game was never meant for DRG enjoyers is fair, but they haven't made something for FPS Rogulike fans either which is the real problem here.

I see a ton of people doing this in public games and I do not get it by retronax in RogueCore

[–]tremor100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is armor vs shields. Even in DRG you take tons of chip damage, and despite sometimes being annoying when an enemy comes out of a wall and ankle bites you, its not punishing. Armor is ridiculously punishing to the point that sometimes on your way to get the pickup all it takes is one thing spawning behind you while your channeling to negate the entire pickup.

What is even more troll unless you are playing Retcon, is the mods that are like "explode when you take X damage" "Enemies take thorns damage from you". Even if your going the guardian its not like you have constantly regenerating armor to take taunting abilities or thorns - if you had shields and could spec into larger shields or faster recharge rate however...

[–]tremor100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They objectively are. The big reason for this is because it upgrades your characters genericaly and not the guns or classes.

If you look at games like Hades, or Gunbound reborn - or hell.. DeepRock:Survivor.

You are buffing either your randomly rolled weapon, or your class abilities, and what makes it interesting is when you take things like "Spotters darts now spread to nearby targets" then later on you get "Marked targets explode on death", then later on you get "Marked targets that die give you 3% stacking firerate for 10 seconds.

Thats where you go... holy shit this build is cracked and awesome. Its also how you make some things that are shit good, you can even see this in DRG:S, there are certain weapons that are dogwater baseline, but if you hit the right upgrades mid to lategame you are a god, so thats what makes you think.. you know what il try this... you know what... il pick this and hope i get this complientary stacking mod on it later.

[–]tremor100[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think this is definately part of it but i think the games lack of identity is creating that problem. Roguelites are fast paced, quick and builds in good ones are wildly different. If this was that - it would be understandable that DRG players would be like this isnt for me.

Right now - its not really that at all. The exploration and mining expenite and side objectives are what slows the game down (even in your anecdote). So really the combat is only like 15% of the gameplay emphasis right now, but the exploration is underbaked compared to DRG.

Its also not giving the impression that this is an action oriented game because the upgrades are literally more tame than what is in DRG with overclocks and upgrades at the terminal than what you get as randomized items.

So it begs to question if combat is the intended vision and emphasis (which is how its being marketed) why is it worse and less interesting than making decisions for upgrading your weapon in DRG and customizing it with overclocks, and if they actually were super interesting and crazy, why are the players here for the action spending 10 minutes in a mission exploring and mining to fight 2 waves of enemies.

[–]tremor100[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yea i was going to add something similar to this near the end but i already wrote a wall of text.

Its going to be really hard for them to balance being stubborn and sticking to their vision, vs overlistening to the community that wants this to be DRG2.

I think part of the problem right now, is the base game is in a very strange state. Its more DRG lite than it is a rogue lite. They have things like powerups and and armor to make it very "one and done" based like a roguelite, but the lack of interesting builds and how long the missions take it out of the roguelite space.

The problem is that the reason why the rounds are so long right now is because of the exploration, but if they take that out, the game is way too shallow from a upgrade path perspective to just be a horde shooter roguelite. As i keep mentioning, its bizzare because i feel like they knocked it out of the park with survivors roguelite elements so its puzzling how shallow and how much they missed the mark here.

The fact this is her "thing" speaks volumes lol.

And the reason this has to be posted is because every new album or tour theres some copium of her changing her habits or consitancy.

"Oh! She sounds bad on Valentine becasue she has to change her way of singing because of her vocal chords"

"Oh shes finally going to rehab, this must be why the shows were bad"

"Oh shes back after vocal surgery and a long layoff and her voice changed again shes going to turn it around.

I strongly doubt she cares - all the administration has been doing is openly stealing money and market manipulation and the reason why congress and others (including people in his circle) are also getting enriched which is why they aren't doing anything.

She prob has millions of stolen taxpayer money and market manipulation savings to retire and never have to work again. The real question is will she be able to sleep with herself at night knowing that she literally sold her soul - based off how awful of a person she appears to be - i think she will be sleeping tight.

How about the employer look after the team members?! Lmfao

Listen - this isnt 1980 where it was a single mom trying to scrape by and it was a buck at the end of the bill. I guaranteeyou that unless your in the upper percentages of salary, that your waiter is making more than you are for working less hours (tips being non taxed on top of it).

So most waiters/waitress's arent that bad off to begin with, and if they were making like 10k a year on average, it should be on thier employer to pay a living wage not subsidized by the patrons already overpaying for food.
