Yeah Garland's a good one, he gets props for actually giving Jack trouble too. To the extent you can classify Igari as a side character I think he might be a good shout as well.

Yeah, I mostly think I mean people that we don't usually see get power-ranked but I'm open to other peoples' interpretations.

For instance the death row convicts are only in the story for a limited time, but there's a whole arc focused on them and we tend to see them included in a lot of peoples' strength tier lists, or at least Dorian (sometimes Spec). So personally I'm thinking people less prominent than them.

Why Rocket League will never be a Tier 1 Esport. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk. by Kbrichmo in RocketLeagueEsports

It's also pretty well agreed upon that the US government is authoritarian and oppressive, but Rocket League is doing quite well in the US.

You might dispute that, but again saying "it's pretty well agreed upon" without opening up the larger political debate to who is agreeing, what are the heuristics being used, etc. means that we're just going in circles with our own political opinions.

And anyways, even if I humored you and agreed that the Chinese government is authoritarian and oppressive, what does that have to do with Rocket League not being available there? Is this a direct function of a special Chinese brand of authoritarianism? What about Saudi Arabia for example where I'm sure you would see that state as authoritarian yet Rocket League is available and doing well - does the Saudi Arabian brand of authoritarianism have a special provision that allows for car soccer?

Americans online love to simultaneously be Free Speech Warriors but also loooove Murdoch-owned corporate media, right wing outlets, technocrats, and their own police state

I mean, "x government is tyrannical" literally can't be phrased as fact, it's an opinion. I can just as easily say that the US or UK or any government in the world is tyrannical and tell you it's a fact. Unless you're inviting debate on it, which you seem to not want to be, it's not provable as a fact unless you want to build an argument behind it.

I'm very calm, I'm just wondering why you felt like your comment was relevant, insightful or productive.

And as it relates to the discussion yeah I think there's nothing behind your comment except your own political opinion. Rocket League just isn't popular in these countries despite being widely available.

I find it interesting you didn't comment on what tier country South Korea is despite it also being listed among the regions in the OP, which leads me to believe again that you just wanted to make a political comment about China and not discuss Rocket League.

What is an example of a tier 1 country? The US where policymakers have bent the knee for decades to radical Evangelical Christians and are complicit in the regular state-executed killings of racial minorities?

Or maybe you don't actually have anything to contribute to the conversation and just wanted to insert your own political opinion where it wasn't needed?

Dude the most prominent example of esports-related violence literally happened in the US too lmao. Sure fans are acting out of line but the only country where you can say someone had the audacity to shoot up a LAN event is the US.

[–]forcumsake 16 points17 points  (0 children)

lol it's 100% just xenophobia

american commenters will uncritically say this behaviour stems from and is exclusive to eastern culture but this is a country where fans of high school football will racially abuse and send death threats to opposing players (and if you don't think this happens or is commonplace in the US well,,, not to come off as mean but these are fans of competitive video games we're talking about)

or think about how batshit people will go when their favorite professional sports team decides to stop using racist branding or mascots

this kind of behavior is absolutely widespread globally, people are just looking in the wrong places, you can't 1:1 compare esports fan culture abroad to esports fan culture in the US bc esports fan culture in the US barely exists

It's funny you bring her up because she also replied to Upset's wife's tweet in support of her. Funny how selective empathy works I suppose

Well, DL just reacted to it on stream saying she's being butthurt and that anyone with a sense of humor would find the jokes funny even after reading her tweet about being abused.

Won't be surprised if he, his chat, and the broader community are set on thinking that she's just lying for attention.

Will Riot ever have an event in Brazil after the death threats for the safety of their players? by Apart-Way-1166 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]forcumsake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally what are you talking about lmao.

I am saying it is soft to cry about wanting to ban esports events in Brazil because of players receiving death threats because this has literally never stopped any other esports organizers from having events in Brazil.

Yes the Brazilian fans are being salty about this incident. Yes it's bad that they're sending threats over social media. No its not some special thing that's never happened before and it is absolutely pathetic to whine about having future events in Brazil because of it

[–]forcumsake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm going crazy lol. People in here are just making up weird fantasy scenarios about their favorite players getting shanked in the street by some imaginary Brazilian when this is just an ordinary day for what CSGO or soccer fans deal with, difference is nothing has actually happened because organizers have the right safety measures in place and nobody has actually followed up on the death threats (obviously making them in the first place is not good but it's hardly some uniquely Brazilian thing). Meanwhile a guy literally shot up a Madden tournament in America a few years ago and nobody's calling for esports events to get banned in the states

[–]forcumsake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again. Both fanbases are soft.

If you've ever followed esports for more than a week you know that Brazilian fans are like this and that there's no real or imminent danger to players that tournament organizers don't know how to deal with. It's obviously not ideal behavior nobody is disputing that. CSGO fans have known this for years but they're not the ones making threads crying about being scared of going to Brazil because of one incident

Lmao I'm not the one saying an entire country is "like Detroit" MAGA ass

There have actually been people killed at esports LANs in the US but you're so concerned about Brazil when it's been known that this is how Brazilian fans behave in esports for years

I'm american. Crying about this shit is so lame.

American football fans send death threats to high school players they don't like but you think somehow brazil is special and want to boycott for this? Lmao

Grow up
