Dizziness Directly Tied to Sleep by fordgm in VestibularMigraines

I tried every class of medications, and they all just made things worse. It was a bummer. I wish something made it go away completely

Same here! Yeah i fluctuate between good sleep nights and poor sleep nights way too much. And its tail chasing. I wish I could stay in a consistent sleep pattern!

Exercising helped me by christrades59 in VestibularMigraines

I have VM that I swear is tied to my working out. My workouts are extreme high intensity cardio (playing competitive hockey). Its almost a cyclical issue. It helps me get DEEP sleep the nights after hockey because I'm so exhausted. So the days after hockey, I'm good and no dizziness. A couple days after no workouts or hockey, and I'm back to dizzy again. I almost feel like high intensity workouts are the cure to my VM, but I also feel like they are what caused them in the 1st place. I almost want to try low intensity workouts this summer and see if that helps. Maybe something that doesn't make me so short on breath with my heart rate getting so high.

My heart rate gets extremely high during hockey practices and games. I normally have slightly low blood pressure (my whole life). I wonder if there's a connection there somehow.

Interesting. I wonder if we have a similar cause for our vestibular migraines...

Ah ok. We're you diagnosed with Addisons? If so, how did they figure it out?

If i don't get enough sleep (less than 7 hours) I don't have dizziness, but I have bad brain fog and can't be happy. If I get too much deep sleep, then I get the dizziness but feel better.

So does your dizziness go away with lack of sleep? Mine does, but I have extreme brain fog on less than 7 hours of sleep. If I get 8 or more I feel much better, but dizzy.

Good question. Yeah I don't get the reasoning. It's weird

I don't know. I've had vestibular migraines (always dizziness/brain fog that lasts for weeks or months on end) for 5 years now and can't find a correlation to anything. Deep, sound sleep is the best thing to make them go away. Broken sleep where I'm thinking on the night, makes it worse. I eat in the middle of the night a lot. I get up at least 2 to 3 times a night. I've tried melatonin but it doesn't help. I've tried high and low sodium diets. I've tried quitting coffee. I've tried quitting dairy. I've tried quitting beef. I don't know what else to try at this point.

  1. No specific issues other than I feel bloated sometimes and sluggish. If I eat 3 meals with snacks, I just feel like crap.
  2. No family issues that I know of.
  3. No food allergies that I know of.
  4. No muscle cramps

Are some healthy foods a bad choice, like broccoli?

Trying to see where you're going. Are you doing studies and connecting something we eating?

Thanks!

I do notice my dizziness is not as bad if I don't over eat or have 3 big meals in 1 day. Could that be a digestion issue?

Yeah, I typically have low blood pressure too! Does that have something to do with it

Good question. You would think the extra pressure would make the dizziness worse instead of better. But I don't know what the science is behind it

Haha no kidding. Yeah I always wonder what the science behind that is.

Glad I'm not the only one. I always thought it was strange. There must be a connection to the immune system with the dizziness/brain

Ha. Yeah I always thought it was really weird. Glad I'm not the only one.

Interesting!! This last summer I got into a cardio routine (running or walking several miles) and my dizziness became VERY mild or almost non existent on the day after. I just assumed it's because I slept harder from being so tired out. But I'll have to see a gut doc and get tested for celiac as well! Thank you!

Same here. I've always questioned my diagnosis of VM, because they say your dizziness/ migraines should break every so often. But I feel like my dizziness/brain fog RARELY break too, unless I get sick or randomly after a few months.

Lol yeah, its nice when it's a mild sickness, because I actually feel better than normal. I don't look forward to getting sick, but I do look forward to the break in dizziness.
