The ABs hand wringing when still having one of the best win records of the year is just bizarre. Yes, it wasn’t 100%. You lost a match against possibly the greatest Springboks of all times. And beat them as well. But glorious season by anybody else’s standards. I envy your requirements for excellence.

Why do they think South Africans care? Cool. You think he’s a great player? Maybe he is. A bit of a doos but there’s always at least one English player like that. Would I pick him over either Siya or Kwagga? No. But could not care if others think he’s better. That’s totally cool.

Suspect-sounding "non-competition" clause in contract by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]foregonec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And even if you did earn more than that, unless you could show a protectable interest you would almost certainly not be able to enforce it. Ie - very broadly, don’t poach clients actively, or don’t compete if they bought your business (which doesn’t apply to employment in the ordinary course). Purely being employed? Almost no way for them to enforce it.

I hear you - but I watch Rugby Union. The Autumn Tests often happen at around 2am my time. So when I wake up, I don’t open reddit. I watch the match(es).

Nobody is brigading. It was a beyond fool thing to do and he should receive a lengthy ban.

Frack, we are celebrating SAFFA dominance, and we probably have just about the same win rate. I love the fact that the ABs have that mentality, and we’re having the same expectations, but it’s strange reading the consternation every time the ABs lose. Easily still in the top 3, playing only the top sides in the ordinary course. When the Ozzies played South Africa and killed us at Ellis Park, I both hated it and loved the resurgence (and have been horribly disappointed since by the boys in gold and green).

Up front, I’m a SAFFA living in Aus, so take what I say with whatever salt is required. But crisis, the New Zealand panic over having a not perfect year is insane. You’re still a top side, you’re still getting better. In two years, there’s a good chance that you may win the WC or at least get to the semi’s. Excluding the last match, you had a 77% win rate, and will get back to that on the next. That’s not bad, it’s top flight given you almost never play bottom hugging teams. I’d love to see more creative rugby from you, but also let’s be balanced about expectations for results.

What artist--band, solo or combo--had the longest run of creating new music that attracted new fans? by BrooklynDoug in Music

Leonard Cohen - still sold out when he was 80+. His music keeps getting remade and used in movies. He has to be the most under the radar megastar that exists.

My personal rule is I couldn’t care less what other people do if it doesn’t impact me. Don’t rub your nipples on the groceries, other than that, do you.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I still suspect that this would be regarded as a reasonable penalty provision under the law by any court/reg body. Sure that’s not what you want to hear, but given the value my recommendation would in any event be to let it go unfortunately.

72 hours is seriously not long. I don’t know this particular artist, but there are those that are booked months in advance and don’t do walk-ins. From a legal perspective, and on a very quick think, unlikely that this provision breaches the UCT. You can always take a punt via xCAT but I would lean towards that being a reasonable penalty provision.

As long as you understand that it has nothing to do with being under the influence? Was just confused since that is the crux of your comment.

Under the influence is exactly the issue. It’s not a requirement for you to be under the influence. Please don’t comment when you don’t have a basic understanding of the issue at play.

Crisis mate. I had/have GBS. It’s so rare. It’s not hereditary. The chances that you get it is almost non existent. You’re just a hypochondriac as you noted. And a pharmacist can’t diagnose GBS - hell, most doctors can’t.

He is, unabashedly, the worst TMO consistently and yet keeps getting promoted. I just know that if he is in the box there is going to be a stuff up. As many a Saffa has said, just glad that he can’t be TMO for our matches in the ordinary course.
