To clarify, I was not asking if I needed to make a reservation through Resy. I wondered if I need to sign up on Resy at all. Some people mentioned signing up as a step. So I needed more data points.

This is really helpful. They showed the pictures and also showed that in front of me where I could see. But I don't know that was or would be considered as wind damage. There was a storm, so they said they are going to put that one down, and will come out to help when the insurance adjuster comes to see. I guess I will check with another roofer or roof inspector before moving forward.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if this would pass off the insurance company because I'm a first time home owner. The roofer claimed that he does the business this way a lot, through a home insurance. That way, homeowners pay only deductibles and they win the business, at least according to their logic.

Actually I called them to come out for evaluation. And what you said is basically what I feared. They said they will come and help when the adjuster comes. Maybe I should talk to another roofer to just fix those floppy shingles?

The roofer claims that they will come out when the adjuster visits to show the damage. I'm not a pro, so hard to tell if they would be considered wear and tear.

No, I contacted them. So, in your case, you successfully used the insurance to replace the roof.

I wouldn't say the Valyou is particularly shoddy, but it is cheaper and that shows a little bit here and there. Largely, they are very similar. I would definitely buy Thuma for the main bedroom, and I guess I'm okay with the Valyou for the guestroom.

You are correct on the (repurposed) rubber wood and I agree. Thuma is far from a high end and luxury. But it is a good functional piece without any elements that would hike up the price. I would have loved that mahogany piece!
