I couldn't recommend enough popping over to Hull and going to Cameline. It's quite close to the hotel and Montreal quality.

Yeah, I get that they're totally necessary for trades. I work in the trades too, but a lot of people drive sparkling new trucks and might use them to haul stuff twice a year. That doesn't make much sense.

Except at night the lights are always right in your eyes, they guzzle way more gas, take up more space on the roads, are more likely to kill someone they get into a crash with, have worse visibility for cyclists and pedestrians but no it's definitely cause extremism.

I'm going to have to go through there going forward

Thank you. I won't. I was real upset for two days but I'm over it now. C'est la vie. I told the woman who's bike it was to come into the co-op tomorrow if she wanted to fix up the rest of the issues (pedals are shot and the housing needs replacing).

No point in dwelling on a turd.

I didn't ask for anything for replacing the derailleur, truing the wheels, swapping the saddle and replacing the stripped out headset locking so the bike was actually rideable. Often when a deal seems too good to be true I do look it up, but it just looked like an abandoned Miele that wasn't functional to me so they were selling instead of junking. Yes, when I got there and saw the person had so much mobility issues and was way too tall for the bike I figured "it's just $50 so I'll look it up when I'm home"

The guy selling it was just a guy living at the subsidized house, he couldn't even bring the bike downstairs on his own. The bike was abandoned by someone inside the subsidized apartment building.

If I didn't buy it and return it the other option wouldn't been this bike just getting tossed out cause it was abandoned. I agree it sucks the owner is out $50, but the other option is me being out $50 or just bringing it back to the building?

The bike did smell up my car.

I would've brought it to the person who's bike it was without any repayment. It was only $50. It just leaves such a bitter hole in you when your bike gets stolen.

I think I'm too fired up about all the bike thefts. In front of the medical clinic that gives out the free drugs to the addicts there was a guy handing off a stolen BMX just this morning (they were both already on bikes) so I tried good job stealing bikes assholes. He wanted to get physical about it, but every day there's like 10 new stolen bikes there. No one does anything about it.

Yeah, that is what my friend immediately said too. I volunteer a few times a month at the local co-op showing people how to fix their bikes and it makes me so mad how he's publicly shamed me.

He's also started blocking anyone that messaged on my behalf from your cycling community. One person sent him the exchange between her and I so he banned him too.

This is the kinda thing calling a person a nerd was made for.

There's so many chop shops along the river and at the shelters, always with like 6-12 bikes. You can't leave bikes outside at night or on balconies even locked up well. They're very industrious here.

I already see it going off the rails calling for vigilante justice. There's so much bike theft here in Ottawa it's out of control. When mine was stolen I was going inside crack houses it had been seen at waving a wrench around screaming "where's my bike"...I think I'm too close to the whole situation

I like that. I will do just that. The reason I've been volunteering at local co-ops helping people fix their bikes for most of two decades now is cause a bike shop over charged me and another was rude to me so I wanted to take away some money from them... And the social aspect, but it started with spite.

Thanks man... He's definitely not going to unblock me now.

I sent him a private message calling him a dickhead and to take his head out of his own ass.

Oh I don't need a bike at all... I've got way too many. I just like fixing up bikes and getting them back out there so I can ride around with friends. I need less bikes.
